The sad thing is......most of the people/children that bullied her are probably oblivious to the harm they caused and the end result.

It's sad.........children can be very cruel......and often many kids are just are so worried about not joining the crowd or being the object of bullies that they will participate in the cruelty........
A lot of times these children are the objects of abuse at home.........or absentee parents that are just oblivious to their demon children........not sure how you combat this when it is those situations.......
Wish this woman could have found help.

Single parenting takes on new extremes for certain starfish that are hermaphrodites -- male and female at the same time and, in some cases, self-fertilizing. The species faces high risk of extinction, according to new research. The dire situation faced by the non-mating starfish, Parvulastra parvivipara and Parvulastra vivipara, helps to explain why so many organisms, including humans, have sex. Genetic diversity and the dispersal of youngsters support population growth. The plight of the starfish, documented in the latest issue of the journal Biology Letters, reveals how a life without sex but with self-fertilization could result in eventual oblivion. “There are quite a few reasons why these species are vulnerable,” senior author Michael Hart of Simon Fraser University’s Department of Biological Sciences told Discovery News. “The whole species could be wiped out.” Hart and his team studied the starfish, which are restricted to high intertidal pools of South Australia and Tasmania. These starfish also go by the nickname "sea cushions," since they look a bit more like a cushion than a star when viewed from the side. Most adult starfish of other species do reproduce via a separate male and female. Females usually produce eggs that males fertilize in the seawater. At that point, the fertilized eggs develop and grow before becoming little starfish that will attach themselves to the substrate and start the whole process over again. The extreme self-parenting starfish often have no such male-female interaction. As a hermaphrodite, the individual produces its own eggs, which are then fertilized right inside the body, likely with that same individual’s own sperm. “The fertilized eggs are not sent out into the environment for development, and instead the parent keeps the developing embryos inside its body, where they complete their embryonic development and become juvenile sea stars (starfish),” Hart explained. He added, “In some species, these juvenile sea stars eat each other, and grow to become relatively very large.” A family with little or no sex and with kids that eat each other predictably has problems. Loss of genetic diversity and low potential for dispersal keep the starfish stuck in their particular territories. “Their habitats are in the highest intertidal zone, which is already a pretty stressful place to live,” Hart said. Adults of these species are small, only about 1 centimeter in diameter. They have few offspring at a time and each only lives anywhere from a few years to about a decade. “Because they lack genetic variation, these populations stuck in place probably are not very likely to evolve new adaptations for living in those rapidly changing environments,” Hart said. The starfishes’ unusual style of reproduction probably evolved 1-2 million years ago “as a way to ensure that all eggs get fertilized,” he said. Mate choice must have been slim to non-existent in some cases, leading to the self-fertilizing. Many plants do something similar, in situations where pollen is scarce. Certain snails, such as the species Physa acuta, will also opt for extreme single parenthood if they do not find a partner. “They can’t wait for a mate indefinitely, especially if the risk of mortality is high,” said West Chester University biologist Josh Auld, an expert on what's known as “the evolution of selfing.” Auld continued, “Self-fertilization is a last-ditch effort.” Starfish that multiply in such a way can be raised in laboratories, but populations in their native habitats “seem to be marked for extinction,” Hart and his team conclude. www.nbcnews.com/science/no-sex-kids-eat-each-other-starfish-families-have-problem-6C10868514

Three Inca children found mummified atop a 20,000-foot volcano in South America consumed increasing amounts of cocaine and corn beer for up to a year before they were sacrificed, according to a new study. Sedation by the drugs and alcohol combined with the frigid, high-altitude setting may explain how the children were killed. There is no evidence for direct violence, the researchers noted. The drug and alcohol consumption rises about six months before death and then skyrockets in the final weeks, especially for the eldest, a 13-year-old girl known as the "Ice Maiden." "She was probably heavily sedated by the point at which she succumbs to death," Andrew Wilson, an archaeologist at the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom and the study's lead author, told NBC News. The finding is based on detailed analyses of hair taken from the more than 500-year-old mummified remains, which also include a four-year-old girl and a five-year-old boy. The boy and girl were perhaps the maiden's attendants. The data corroborate earlier research showing the children ate more meat and corn in their final year. Taken together, the studies suggest the peasant children were selected for the ritual sacrifice and lived a high-status life until their death near the top of the Llullaillacao Volcano in Argentina, Wilson said. He and colleagues present the new analysis in a paper published Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Far from the mountain The corn beer chicha and coca leaf, the plant that contains cocaine, are prominent features of Andean culture, so finding their signature "is not a surprise in itself," John Verano, an anthropologist at Tulane University in New Orleans who was not involved in the new study, told NBC News. "But it is particularly interesting the level of detail at which (the researchers) are able to look at it," he added. "It allows them to hypothesize why the older child of the three was drinking so much chicha in her last month of life and what that might have indicated about her lifestyle and activities." According to Wilson, the story likely begins "far from the mountain" in the Inca capital of Cusco, Peru, where the Ice Maiden was taken to live "under the guardianship of priestesses" and passed her time weaving textiles and brewing chicha. At about six months before death, there was a ceremony that involved ritual hair cutting — some clippings were found with the mummies — and that coincides with a peak in coca consumption. The coca consumption and alcohol use then begin to rise sharply again in the weeks before death, probably as the Ice Maiden and two younger children were marched from Cusco to the volcano, stopping along the way for ceremonies that likely involved large amounts of coca and chicha. The researchers suspect the Inca rulers wanted the sacrifice to be known throughout the empire, which was expanding southward at the time of the mummies' death. The Llullaillacao Volcano is at the empire's southern extent. "It is something that is designed to create this climate of fear and to basically help build … new allegiances," Wilson said. These festivals en route to the mountain, Verano noted, could explain why the Ice Maiden was drinking so much corn beer along with elevated coca chewing in her final weeks. It's also possible, he added, that "she had a drinking problem. Maybe she started drinking beer the last year of her life and just found it to be pleasant or particularly soothing." Final sacrifice The mummies were discovered in 1999 and are considered among the best preserved mummies from anywhere in the world. The Ice Maiden was inside a tomb structure, surrounded by offerings from the four corners of the Inca empire such as seashells, bird feathers, coca and corn. Her head is bowed as if she fell asleep, sedated, and succumbed to the biting cold and thin air as is inevitable at such altitude. The levels of alcohol and coca are higher for the older girl, a finding that may "support the idea of her being calmed intentionally," Verano said. "It could be that she had a better idea of what was going to happen to her. She was older." The data, he added, allows researchers to better imagine the lives of these children, but noted that their story is one of interpretation. There are no eyewitness accounts. "For me," Wilson said, "it really does send somewhat of a shiver down my spine … It is almost the children being able to speak to us directly through some of this data, some of the things they experienced." www.nbcnews.com/science/inca-child-sacrifices-were-drunk-stoned-weeks-death-6C10784197

It has been the stuff of legends for as long as hikers have been traipsing through the wilderness. But whether you believe this figure caught on camera by hikers in the Canadian wilderness is actually the legendary Bigfoot, or just a man in an ape suit, is all a matter of opinion. Either way the sighting of the figure, which appears covered in thick black hair and is seen lumbering across the mountain top, has sparked plenty of excitement among Bigfoot fans. In the footage the figure walks from the trees into the open, pausing briefly before disappearing back into the trees. It remains unclear exactly where the video was shot but it is believed to have been filmed on a trail near Mission, in British Columbia. The footage has been viewed thousands of times on YouTube with believers claiming it is evidence that the ape-like creature, known as sasquatch, actually exists. But scientists have dismissed the Bigfoot theory, claiming it is a mixture of a hoax, folklore and incorrect identification. (CNN) -- Wher woud some of us bea withoot spell check? The sometimes annoying, but frankly indispensable computer aid has spared billions of typographical blushes. Now, an ingenious prototype pen developed by a German start-up is promising to give our longhand writing a similar sort of safety net. Lernstift (German for "learning pen") is a digital pen with a difference, carrying not only ink inside its casing but also a tiny computer that alerts users to spelling errors. Daniel Kaesmacher, co-founder of Lernstift told CNN: "Basically there are two functions. The calligraphy mode which helps you correct individual letters, and the orthography mode which vibrates when a word is misspelled." The AAA battery-powered Linux computer includes a vibration module and a patent pending non-optical motion sensor which recognizes specific movements and shapes of letters and words. The pen employs a menagerie of sensors, including a gyroscope (for measuring orientation), accelerometer (for calculating propulsion) and magnetometer (a device that measures the strength and direction of magnetic fields) -- all to calculate the pen's 3-D movements Lernstift recognizes all writing movements, the company says, written on paper or in the air and built-in Wi-Fi allows scribblers to connect with smartphones, computers or other pens in a network. The pen was invented by software developer and Lernstift founder Falk Wolsky after seeing his wife's frustrations at watching their son struggle with his homework. Why can't pens give instant feedback on mistakes? she asked. His imagination fired, Wolsky set about constructing a prototype before assembling a team of hardware and software experts late last year. "We are at the stage where the individual components do their job. We haven't put it together yet, but the response to the idea though has been overwhelming," Kaesmacher said. The pen has been designed primarily as an educational tool and the Munich-based company are hopeful that dyslexic children will find the new pen particularly useful. Greg Brooks, Professor Emeritus of Education at the UK's University of Sheffield gave the pen a cautious welcome. "It's a neat idea in principle, but as ever the proof will be in the using of it," Brooks said via email. "Will it learn individuals' quirks of handwriting, or insist on one style? I can see how it might be programmed to spot obvious spelling errors (non-words), just as the spellcheckers in word processors do -- but none of those can yet cope with real-word errors." A Kickstarter campaign recently got underway looking to raise £120,000 ($180,000) and tests in schools will begin later this year. The first pens will initially recognize only English and German spellings, but other languages will follow, says Kaesmacher. "Learning your native language is one thing, but it's also the perfect tool to adapt for foreign language students," he says. "From a cultural point of view, the pen is a wonderful bridge between cursive and technological worlds." Eventually, the company plan to offer pencil, fountain and ballpoint pen options with a launch price between €120-150 ($160-200) falling to under €50 ($60) depending on how fast the company grows. www.cnn.com/2013/07/19/tech/innovation/spellcheck-lernstift-pen/index.html

Mr Cameron said that a "frightening" decade of "lax immigration" has put too much pressure on communities and that the country should only welcome those who "come here and work hard". His comments come after the Office for Budget Responsibility suggested earlier this month that Britain needs millions of immigrants over the next 50 years because of its ageing population. However, Mr Cameron is determined to reduce the levels of immigration into Britain to "tens of thousands" by the end of this Parliament. During a meeting with staff at Bentley's headquarters in Crewe, he was asked why Britain lets in immigrants who are a "constant drain" while others "work hard". He said: "I basically agree with you. There are some benefits from being a country that welcomes people who want to come here and work hard. "But in the last decade we have had an immigration policy that's completely lax. The pressure it puts on our public services and communities is too great." He said the government has capped the number of migrants from outside the European Union and cracked down on bogus colleges. "I want to see it (net migration) coming down faster. On housing, health, education and legal aid we are showing we are not a soft touch. "By the end of this government we will be able to look back and say we may not have sorted out the whole problem, but we have got a much tougher approach to immigration that's fair." He also said that prison is "not the answer to all the problems" that society faces, adding that more needs to be done to improve the literacy and work prospects of those in jail. He rejected claims by a female employee, who said she has been a victim of crime three times in the past year, that prison is a "holiday camp". He said: "Having been to quite a number of prisons, purely in a professional capacity, I wouldn't describe them as holiday camps. You think I'm pretty glad I'm not here. "We do need to make sure that things like televisions in prison are an earned right. You should get it if you behave well. They should be earning their privileges. "Prison isn't the answer to all the problems. 50-60 per cent of people there can't read, can't write. They have no prospect of getting work when they get out. "We have got to get into those prisons, teach them how to read and write, teach them some skills and therefore give them the chance of going straight." www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/10197738/David-Cameron-Immigration-is-constant-drain-on-public-services.html

It's a prince!
The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth Monday to her first child, an 8-pound, 6 ounce boy at 4:24 local time (11: 24 ET).
The palace revealed the news via press release at 8 p.m. local time following a hospital stay that lasted more than 14 hours at London's St. Mary’s Hospital, the same facility where Princes William and Harry were born.
The baby's birth was to be announced to the world in a formal declaration placed in front of Buckingham Palace on an easel, the same one used to announce Prince William’s birth 31 years ago. But the palace released the news to the media first, indicating that the formal notice would be posted later Monday evening.
"Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight," the statement read.
The name of the baby, the palace said, will be announced "in due course."
The infant will be third in line to the British throne, after his father and grandfather, Prince Charles. He is the first grandchild for both Prince Charles and the Middleton family.
Duchess Kate, 31, was admitted to St Mary’s in the early stages of labor Monday shortly before 6 a.m. local time (1 a.m. ET).

I just can't agree with not honoring our veterans and those willing to put their life on the line.
Whether you agree with the reasons they are being sent......then hold that against the people making those decisions......not the ones that are willing to go. War is never pretty and will always be controversial. But sometimes it is necessary.
