I think some of his family had that problem perhaps not unsurprisingly!
He might have been better getting psychiatric help.
How can a psychiatrist help a person who feels that they were born with the wrong body? They would have to be brainwashed into believing what the psychiatrist was saying. They can tell them to pull themselves together.
You can't have everything you want in life but you can make the best of what you have.
Most of the time you are treated as an individual according to how you behave, not your sex.

I think a lot too might have been due to poverty, poor diet, malnutrition.
A healthy immune system should deal with most things.
The immune system has to do with helping a person recover from a disease of some kind. Sometimes a lengthy pain filled labour can be too much for a woman. I had to be sedated in order to allow me to rest, as I didn't think that I would last the distance. I felt that I was going to die. Child birth is not really do do with the immune system. Maybe the sedation helped you relax.
The way the do birth is probably not the best ie lying on your back, that is just to make it easy for the doctor, not the woman.

I read a long time ago that the reason that so many women died in childbirth was because they had no understanding of germs. Who was the person in France during the middle ages who discovered something that was beneficial to mankind. I think it was a woman and it affected our health. I wish I had a better memory.!!! PS: Was the person Louis Pasteur. I think his wife was involved too unless I'm thinking of some other inventor. What was he famous for?
There is more on the links but it seems to me most of the death were caused by the stupidity of modern medicine.
It is a big money making industry.
If you are healthy your immune system can cope. But medical practises left women unhealthy.

They still must have suffered, some more than others.
Sure but a lot of folk have suffered and far more than them, ok so they were not the sex they wanted to be, big deal, you can't have everything you want, they
can still have a full and happy life the sex they are. It is not like they are seriously disabled. Their problems are psychological.
It is our minds that allow us to think and feel. The body sends messages to the brain and the mind deciphers its meaning and makes the appropriate decisions as to its findings. From what I know, It is possible that the memory of a past life when Soul was in the body of a person of a different gender that is the cause of the person's turmoil as to thinking he should be in a different body. Other than that, it could be a case of having been taken over by a spirit of a different gender who is causing him to think in such a manner. Take your pick.!!!

That could probably be quite true. Being on your haunches might be the best way, but that is not too ladylike.

Easier said than done apparently. I certainly wouldn't want to go through so many operations.

Modern medicine does not seem to clever to me.
If they cannot get something as simple as that right they must be a very stupid bunch!

Feeling that you are occupying the wrong body isn't the norm, so thinking that you can placate that person by telling them to pull themselves together probably wouldn't work. You have to be in another person's shoes to know exactly how they feel.

It just goes to show how ignorant people were in those days. Thank goodness for those who are open to receiving enlightenment, otherwise we would be pretty stagnant in our behaviour. We do learn eventually.!!!

it is the right body for them, mutilating it will not help.
Just do what Caitlyn Jenner does, ie dress up as a woman, s/he still has a penis so she is a man and always will be.
YOu might feel you are a helicopter but it is not true.

giving birth lying on your back was back in the old days , these days and it has been so for the past 20 years at least, women get to choose what position they feel comfortable in to give birth

How you see life probably won't have any effect on people who are transgender. If they go to all the trouble of having an operation, they must think it is all worthwhile.

They might think it is worthwhile but I dunno if they are any happier after the operation.
They might think it will resolve al their problem and might feel happier initially, but if they have underlying mental health problems the sex change will not cure them.

It certainly is a troublesome issue, but the fact that they decided to go the distance by going through so many operations, shows that it is very important to them. It is up to others who know the person to respect the change and to accept them as the gender that they prefer to be. That way there should be no problems.

I read one report that claimed Jenner holds strong Christian religious views. Isn't homosexuality frowned upon in the church?

That will always be difficult for some as they are now in effect a different sex and thus a different person, they have basically change who they are.
