What's your attitude to the paranormal?
Are you a 'true believer?'
Have you had any 'psychic experiences?'
Are you a sceptic?
Are you open-minded?
Which (if any) paranormal events do you think happen?
Have you any theories on why they do (if you think they do?)

I think there is a mixture of both. Definitely the majority is stuff from people that were too excited or predisposed to see something........but I know of a few things that can't be explained.......that makes me wonder........so I'm open to some other ideas.

I've voted "some things can't be explained easily" because there's gotta be more to life than scientists know about. Some things can't be explained!

Some things haven't been explained, but that doesn't mean that they can't be explained. We just don't know enough yet.

I believe that when you're dead, you're dead. In that respect we're no different to other animals, insects and flora, but because we're highly intelligent some of us refuse to believe that what we have now is all there's ever going to be, so the invention of an after-life is necessary. Visiting our son in Edinburgh recently, we visited the Edinburgh Vaults which are supposed to be haunted. Some of the people who were also on the tour reckoned they felt something. All I felt was cold because we were underground, but because the others believed in ghosts they attributed the cold to paranormal activity. Load of codswallop!

Hi everso, I disagree with you that the supernatural is a lot of codswallop. There are other dimensions besides the one that WE live in When the body dies Soul goes to one of these dimensions and lives there until it is time tor Soul to return to this earth, where it once again dwells in the body of a newborn I have also seen a flying saucer during the daylight hrs, so I I know that they exist. We are here to learn via life's experiences. So there are many surprises ahead for mankind. All the best for 2015. Happy New Year.

I think answers 2, 3 and 4 are pretty much the same.
I do think there is something to the paranormal ad it covers a lot more than just ghosts. The difficulty is in replicating events that occur.

I believe in it completely. There are other dimensions in the so called invisible worlds. I have travelled there via Soul travel. Which is an out of the body experience.

How does soul travel work then? Hi Gibby, Most of the time when you are in a contemplative state, that means focussing on the spiritual eye ( third eye ) and wanting to have an out of the body experience. But my first and second experience happened when I was just reading a spiritual book, so I didn't know what it was. I only knew when I became a member of ECKANKAR, the religion of Light and Sound ( Holy Spirit ) and it was explained to me. When you have experimces that you don't understand the ordinary denominations never have answers, so your none the wiser. ECKANKAR is completely different as it can explain everything so clearly, you don't have any doubts, that it IS the truth.

I lived in a haunted house and I've seen ghosts. One of my parent's friends had a very strange experience when his mother died. A week after her death he felt an urgent pull to go to her favourite store (where he never went) and when he went in there he was going up the escalator and saw his mother (he swears it was her) wearing a typical dress and with the pianist playing her favourite piece of music on the piano.
I've also seen ghosts and witnessed poltergeist activity (perhaps the most spectacular example when me, my husband and two kids were sitting on a sofa and it rose up into the air about a foot all by itself)
Even after we stopped living in the house subsequent dwellers complained about ghostly and poltergeist activity as did some workmen repairing the house. It used to be on the site of a monastery and several times I saw monks walking through the walls.

Juliet, I'm really glad you've joined us. I know about astral travel or OOBE or soul travel or whatever you want to call it.
It's quite easy actually and at one time I used to do it a lot.
Eckanckar isn't something I know much about but I'm a Christian and I've found that Christ has turned my life around and made me a much better person.
Christianity teaches humility, love, compassion, tolerance and forgiveness.
I worry about the idea that 'you don't have any doubts' because history shows that too often that type of attitude leads to murder, persecution and so on.
I stand with Oliver Cromwell who said 'I beseech you, in the bowels of Christ, consider it possible that you may be wrong.'
Dogmatism and certainty worry the hell out of me!

Hi Biglin, ECKANKAR believes in all the aspects of love that you mentioned. I have no doubts because of my personal experiences. I was a Christian from birth until I became an ECKist (a member of ECKANKAR) we follow the Holy Spirit (ECK) we connect to the Holy Spirit via contemplation, which is ofcourse by focussing on the spiritual eye (third eye) That is good to know, that you can Soul travel. Have you stopped it now? If so, why ? Soul travel takes you to the different dimensions that exist then on to the true spiritual dimensions where God dwells.

What you are seeing is real Biglin, but we in ECKANKAR see it as a ruse by the ngative force to hold your attention in order to prevent you from progressing any further on your spiritual journey to the Godhead.

I keep an open mind on most subjects. What I do know is that as a teenager I was a bad lot and that when Christ came into my life He turned it around and I became a much better person. I know what I saw and experienced and I'm still open-minded but I don't believe death is the end but then again I don't believe in reincarnation either. IMO our personality, soul, call it what you like, survives our bodily death. That's what I believe and though my experience seems to confirm that I wouldn't claim any kind of certainty.

I'm all ears. I was in tremendous pain at the time, but during the contractions i remember vividly "leaving" my body and floating to the ceiling, i was looking down on everything , it was a classic out of body experience, after a while i went back into my body. after i was recovering from the birth the experience of it was still vivid and 14 years later it is still as vivid. what it was all about i dont know , is this how we cope when we are in extreme pain ? does our brain partly shut down or something , i don't know or was i nearly dying? these are questions i dont know the answers to.

Soul left the body for a short time because of the extreme pain that you were experiencing. This is known as Soul travel. You weren't dying, Soul travel is commonplace.
Soul leaves the body every time we go to sleep and has experiences in other dimensions, which those who don't know think is a dream, you gather together with other Souls.
I was never homesick for Scotland because I regularly went home and conversed with them via Soul travel.

I'm all ears!!! Would you like to post some of your experiences. We have a segment on ECKANKAR where both newcomers and ECKists ( members ) are asked to talk about any spiritual experience they have had. I love to hear their stories.
