OK...here's the beginning of a song that was popular about 10 years ago.
I'm going out tonight-I'm feelin' alright Gonna let it all hang out Wanna make some noise-really raise my voice Yeah, I wanna scream and shout No inhibitions-make no conditions Get a little outta line...

3 days left Turnaround, every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you're never coming around Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit tired of listening to the sound of my tears Turnaround, Every now and then I get a little bit nervous that the best of all the years have gone by clue ('cause this is a good one ) Jim Steinman (who wrote this song) once said of the singer - "She sounds like she's spent time on the rack."

Ahhh...it's killing me that I can't remember this song's title or who sang it. I can sing most of the lyrics (Turn around, bright eyes....lalala and I need you now tonight, and I need you more than ever...lalala...we'll be holding on forever ...lalala...every now and then I fall apart...).

Here's a fairly easy one:
'They know I'm from Dixie when I open up my mouth And they don't treat the ladies here the way they do down south'

Way to go, Mindy and Laura. OMG, is that Bonnie Tyler video a jumbled mess of '80s visuals? LOL! Not the worst, but right down there rubbing shoulders with the worst. I don't know the title for the lines Lin added. Because we've only 2 more days (oh trubble . . . oh riotgirl . . . .), I'm going to put in one more. A candy-colored clown they call the sandman Tiptoes to my room every night Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper Go to sleep. everything is all right.
I close my eyes, then I drift away Into the magic night. I softly say A silent prayerlike dreamers do. Then I fall asleep to dream my dreams of you. This should be easy. Bet Jim would know it.

I'll give you a clue - it's a female country singer.

I'll give you a clue - it's a female country singer. I'm sorry. I can't get this one. There are 3 or 4 female country/pop singers I like, and I just don't keep up with the others. Evidently, this is an "other" because I don't recognize the lyrics at all. Maybe, if trubble or riotgirl does not come in and win another point, we should just close off Feb. with the 3 way tie and start over on Sunday - especially since we have some new players. What do you think, Lin? (assuming you'll be cruising through here again on Saturday)

I'll give you another clue - her best known song - she writes most of her own stuff - was a BIG hit for Kris Kristofferson. It's got rather a repetitive chorus (more so than the example I gave of this one though even that's slightly more repetitive than I like.)

I don't recognize the lyrics either. I know Dolly Parton writes most of her own stuff...but the lyrics don't sound like Dolly.

I'll give you a final clue - she has the same Christian name as another singer who had a notorious affair with a former governor of California!

Total eclipse of the heart by Bonnie Tyler Thanks, Laura! It was killing me and I didn't want to cheat by looking it up. Now I can stop wracking my brain...You're such a smartie pants! Thanks! It helps that I was a LOT YOUNGER in the early 80's! ;D

If this is the Feb. contest, we have a few more days to break the tie. Someone other than riotgirl, trubble or myself needs to post some lyrics. Thanks I listened to this doing homework today: My baby she can scream and shout My baby she can move it out My baby she can take a chance My baby got a brand new dance Another part of song: Well, it's a brand new dance Yeah been sweepin' the nation I said a brand new dance A rock 'n' roll sensation Yeah I like it baby, I do it every night I got to do it 'cos I like it so much Oh honey believe it baby You see it's a crazed gyration of the rock generation It's my motivation to avoid the nauseation, frustration When I need some lubrication - Baby!

That's what I thought, too - although I wasn't aware the Brown-Ronstadt affair was "notorious". Trouble is, I don't know very much about country music and always have to back away when it comes into play.

Since this is March 1 ( sunny and clear, but very cold - is that coming in like a lamb or a lion?), I'm going to retire this one. If no one has it by now, they won't without looking it up. A candy-colored clown they call the sandman Tiptoes to my room every night Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper Go to sleep. everything is all right.
In Dreams - Roy Orbison I'm sure this was a lovely, popular song when it was fresh. Now, it's so linked to the sick and twisted Blue Velvet it's ruined for me forevermore.

However, I don't like many women singers (in any kind of music) so it's no wonder I don't know who this is! ;D
