I'm very sure I have never demanded or even asked that anyone takes my posts seriously - it matters nought to me what others here think of my opinions. So I miss your point. I think many of the views here are racist at heart and the tosh about "if you call me a racist that makes you a racist" just smacks of ner ner ner ner ner, playground, who smelt it dealt it, arguments - I ask you! is that really meant to be a grown up argument? Some of you are pissed you cannot call black people n-igg-er anymore. Sheesh! Boo Hoo - grow UP! Have a laugh I think that is the same use of the word as Frank Zappa used it, as a satire on racism, not racism itself. (See Zappa's Thing Fish musical, and the songs "You are what you is," and "Nig Biz.")

The word I meant (which you consider offensive to women, but which I do not, and so use, a lot) rhymes with "Hunt." Aubrey, it is not offensive to women to use that word with its proper meaning. But it is very offensive indeed to use any word denoting women's genitalia as an insult.

Negus: Used formerly as a title for emperors of Ethiopia.www.thefreedictionary.com/NegusI suppose if this title had anything to do with the orgin of the n-word it shouldn't be an insult.

I suppose if this title had anything to do with the orgin of the n-word it shouldn't be an insult. What does it matter what the orginal meaning was? It is NOW used as a racist insult and millions of people feel it is used as an insult, so what does it matter if it wasn't an insult 600 years ago? It what it means now that counts.

It's only because (some) men within our culture despise women so much that 'cunt' can be used as an insult. I'm absolutely in favour of the word being used - reclaimed, if you like - as it was by feminist artists in the 1970s: www.brooklynmuseum.org/exhibitions/dinner_party/Or of women using it in celebration of their own sexuality. That's not compatibile with it being used as the nastiest insult anyone can think of.

What utter tosh. Men do use the word as an insult aimed at other men, but it has nothing to do with hating women, that's just wishful thinking on your part. Nice try, but no cigar.

I'm sure most men (and women) don't think like that when they use the word now. But that's the origin of that usage. How could it not be? Why else would the normal word for a woman's sex organs come to be used that way?

am not with this at all....there has to be more to being a woman than a sex part...there has to be a damned sight more to celibrate than whats between the legs not into all this celebrating sexuality guff....and some men in every society despise women...justs as some women despise men......as for their own sexuality..every one has their own sexuality cant see why or whats to celebrate..all very odd
