I went to get some drugs today. Lou Reed said this of buying drugs: He's never early, he's always late; The First thing you learn is that you've always got to wait. And it's true: the bloke was out at the bank when I got there. So I waited. There was a chair though, and I could look at shelves of bottles containing folic acid supplements and the like. (I didn't pay either, as I've got an exemption certificate. ) Dear aubrey, if you don't mind my asking, have you ever tried to be sober for any length of time?

Pumpkinette - I was waiting in the chemist for blood pressure tablets. That's what I meant by the folic acid stuff - I was trying to remember what else they had where I was waiting - it was a section of vitamin supplements, things like that. Maybe chemists are different in the US. I just meant, I had a prescription that I was picking up because I'd been to the Drs and he thought my Blood Pressure was too high. And you do always have to wait at the chemist's, because he has to get the drugs together and wrapped up.
I haven't bought illegal drugs for over 10 years, more's the pity.
I'm sober now; but I will have some whisky tonight. Not enough to get drunk, though.

sugest you go work on a maternity unit...see the myth exposed ..by watching twitiching pain riden little bodies.... I agree 100%! OR go to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting to see how "harmless" ( : getting drunk is. Narcotics Anonymous meetings are also a great place to find out how "harmless" ( : drugs are.

I don't think alcohol or drugs are harmless: but that illegality makes them a lot more dangerous.

Oh for God's sake the lot of you. Get a life and move on!!! Stop whining about your addictions, get a grip, get out of the house and deal with yourselves!! ...I'll have 11 years alcohol free on 10/16...I haven't touched any illegal drug since I was 18 and the only 1's I tried were pot (twice from what I remember) and speed (only once which was enough... ) and have been FREE of a prescription medication with benzodiazepine in it since last January ( ;D). I'm VERY thankful for that as was so sick with panic disorder for a lot of years that I needed the benzodiazepine to function at all level at all. However, I SHOULD have been told when given it that MOST people go through WITHDRAWL HELL when going off it (and I have and still have a few symptoms) even if you go off it the right way (which I have). I'm proud I NEVER abused it as I easily COULD HAVE. I share these things over and over online in the hopes that others will LEARN from them and at least TRY to live sober! I also speak about about benzodiazepine withdrawl as TOO many doctors still aren't and it's an outrage! Too many like me are NOT being told what they're in for when they go off benzos! Anyway, these issues are very important and those of us who have worked to get and stay sober have a lot to give! There's so many who are addicted and destroying themselves and others. They NEED to hear from those who have gotten clean! OK, I'm going to be quiet now.

I have no idea but it sounds interesting. Maybe it's an episode on Glee?

Frowsting means sitting happily in a fug. At least, that's what I meant by it.
(A fug is a thick atmosphere - smoke, food and other smells, that kind of thing.)
(I keep hitting the wrong key, damn damn damn.)

Nothing wrong with a little fugue either.

Or a Gross Fugue.
(I love fugues. The moment when I realised what a fugue was, after reading no end of descriptions and not understanding, came when I watched my mother trying to play a piece that started off with a fugue bit on the piano: and it suddenly clicked, and I realised at the same time that I had really known all along, was one of the great moments in my life.

Is there any difference between a fugue and a stupor? I think not.

Depends what kind of fugue.
(I'm listening to Beethoven's Grosse Fuge now.)
Actually, I think that even with the kind of fugue you mean there is a difference. A stupor is when you can't/don't want to do anything, and are pretty much passed out, and a fugue is when you do do things, but don't remember them - a bit like driving through Sheffield, say, and having no recollection of how you did it afterwards (something that is supposed to happen to travelling salesmen a lot).

Aubrey - If you're stoned you're stoned. Call it a fugue if you like.

That's the point - they're different.
You often hear people saying how they have set off to drive somewhere, and have got there ok, but don't remember anything after a certain point. They have been driving ok, without having to think about it. And they haven't done anything illegal. I'd say that's nearer a fugue. Driving while stoned, though, is illegal.

Aubrey - I agree that prohibition of liquor failed. Do you think that was a good thing or a bad thing?
