Could have fooled me. I thought his major claim to fame was in being an unmitigated jerk.

That was one of the first things I learned to play - spooky.
For some reason this always cheers me up.

Thanks fret, I like that one, too. To me, the spookiest part of the Animals vid (excepting the outfits) is that Eric Burden looks such an unlikely person to possess that voice. Nowadays, the first lessons seem to consist of Stand By Me and Smoke On The Water. My youngest kiddo has overwhelmed us with those over the past 6 months.

The original on Machine Head has quite an atmosphere to it, but its got that reputation now. Just be grateful, beth, that its a guitar and not a drum kit. Believe me, I know whereof I speak!

My sympathies, fret. I do have a 4 yr. old nephew whose role model (in music making) is Roger Taylor. and, if you think I had anything to do with that . . . I suppose a case could be made. Actually, it's probably the drums he admires.

Digging even deeper into the vault. The video and audio coordination is not perfect, but the sound quality is very nice. This one has gone from a classic to a standard - also recorded effectively by Diana Krell.
Video removed due to copyright infringements. I think this was the song posted.

I'm missing my mentors. Where are you fret? Where are you trub? I need you to tell me how cliche this is. It's starting to look as if RS will be as enduring as Tony Bennett.

Had to go look up Family's Bandstand album ('72). That was great. ah . . . the guilty pleasure that is Journey during the Steve Perry years.
