Best bet, at a restaurant. So if you don't like it then you don't have to pretend. My fave, fillet mignon with mushroom or pepper sauce, baked potato and green veg. Yes, I know you're thinking - boring. But hey, serve that for dinner and I'll be there.
Filet is good anytime so no need to apologize for a simple pleasure
me, I'm still mulling over that tomato pie receipe that was given on CD and adding spinach to it......i just need to figure out how to make less as I can't eat a whole pie....well, take that back, yes I can but won't.
Gabe, that's always a good dinner, though I'd choose prime rib - med. well.
Chris, see if your son will take part of it. It's so good I can't imagine anyone turning it down unless they are totally anti-veggie. I still have to try the spinach but plan to in a few days.
and . . . where is DEWEY??? Hope she finds her way here!

when I worked at a country club in Florida I had so much prime rib that I burned out on the stuff.....it was good while it lasted but we had it every week for the members so the kitchen staff got to eat it also.
Son just won't eat tomatoes and spinach is not going to entice him at all so may buy the small disposable tins and make a little portion for myself.
Even the regular sized frozen crusts are pretty small - I think you can get 8 inch crusts that are quite good.
Tomato pie lasts the day I make it and 2 more days for me, though on the 3rd day it isn't as good. I have a slice when it cools, then refrigerate it and try to have it finished up the next day if possible.
Looking forward to trying the spinach.
BTW, somewhere in this topic is Cammie's version. I think the thread name is just Tomato Pie. That's the first one I tried, then added the bell peppers, sauteed with the onion. She has the cheese and mayo amounts just right - better than Paula Dean.

It's on this topic. Click on Kitchen and it's next to the last thread.
That sounds good. Mr. B lavishly loves fried potatoes which I don't fix often enough to suit him.
We had beef tips over butter noodles and slices of a very nice watermelon.
If you're in the U. S., heads up! Healthy Choice is having a major sale on their new entrees and (shock ) they're really quite good - for what they are, after all (frozen diet food). The Sesame Chicken has a strange dessert though - Peach Curry Crumble. Otherwise, the 2 varieties we've tried were definitely eatable for lunch at work or a quick meal anywhere with a microwave.
Roasted pork tenderloin, potatoes au gratin, fried apples w/cinnamon, sugar and vanilla, dinner rolls and cole slaw. Not our usual week night meal, but we had guests so splurged. It was very good if I do say so.
We had fish and chips tonight (from the fish and chip shop). With plenty of salt and vinegar. You really do need to have something now and again that sticks to your ribs.
You'll be glad I'm not coming with you because I can only order one thing for my maincourse and that's ''Vegetarian Delight -- Sautéed veggies including yellow squash, zucchini, asparagus and mushrooms served with baked potato and a dinner salad"

First time we've ever been to the Steamboat Steakhouse. It was quite good. We had the prime rib cooked rare. The salad was just ok but the meat was excellent.
This is a very large restaurant owned by a wealth collector of Texas historical memorabilia. The walls are lined with old flags and historical documents. The place could double as a small museum. In fact, they give tours to groups of students from local schools. Historical places on this side of the pond are quite different from Europe because American history only goes back in time about 250 years.

Our kitchen is out of commission due to water damage and being rebuilt. They've ripped out the kitchen cabinets and flooring. Replacing all of that, new countertop, wallpaper, wood flooring, the works. So we're eating most meals at restaurants while that work is going on. I think it will be another month before it's all back together.
Tonight we had a great meal at a seafood restaurant (Badins in Houston). I had pan sauteed AmberJack ( a great local ocean fish from the gulf) with lemon butter caper and fresh lump crab topping served with french fried shoestring potatoes. Yummy.
Dinner tomorrow evening will be the major meal of the year - Thanksgiving Day.
We are dining at 5 pm and have several guests joining us.
Menu
Roasted Turkey with cornbread & mushroom stuffing Spiral-cut Ham Glazed Yams Corn Casserole Broccoli in sauce with brd. crumb topping Mashed Potatoes Cranberry Relish Ambrosia Salad Pecan Pie Dutch Apple Pie
Assorted raw vegetables and dip Assorted crackers and dip
Iced tea or wine
I plan to nibble and sleep better tomorrow night for not having over done. We'll see how that resolution goes.

Hunny: It's not your fault you can't find it. It's not there! (Only possible reason would be your location.) So..I can't un-tick it either.

Hunny: Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes.
