We have our main meal at lunchtime, à la française. Today, home made Yorkshire pudding filled with home made beef bolognaise, followed by the last slice of Madame's pear pie. (With a glass of Jurançon of course!) Tomorrow is Tuesday, so the fish vendor comes. Have to be up early.

I think it's probably much healthier to have the main meal at mid-day, but, here, many of us like to have the dinner meal with our family, and it's very difficult to get everyone together until evening. I love pear pie, btw.

I broke down and cooked tonight. Baked boneless pork chops, au gratin potatoes, spinach salad, biscuits. Mr. Beth appreciated it.

A friend gave me a meatloaf recipe that I tried this evening. It sounded a bit strange and I wasn't sure it would be good, but it turned out to be surprisingly tasty. Dinner Meatloaf 1 lb ground round 1 egg 1/2 c milk, 1 c Italian bread crumbs 1/4 tsp salt a shake or two of pepper 1 sm. onion, chopped fine 2 Tbsp brown sugar 2 Tbsp mustard 1/3 cup ketchup
RECIPE: In bowl mix beef, egg, milk, bread crumbs, salt, pepper, & onion. Shape into one loaf in square baking dish. In separate bowl mix brown sugar, mustard, ketchup. Pour over meatloaf. Bake at 350 for 50 min. Check for doneness.

Best bet, at a restaurant. So if you don't like it then you don't have to pretend. My fave, fillet mignon with mushroom or pepper sauce, baked potato and green veg. Yes, I know you're thinking - boring. But hey, serve that for dinner and I'll be there.

Gabe, that's always a good dinner, though I'd choose prime rib - med. well. Chris, see if your son will take part of it. It's so good I can't imagine anyone turning it down unless they are totally anti-veggie. I still have to try the spinach but plan to in a few days. and . . . where is DEWEY??? Hope she finds her way here!

Hope she finds her way here! when I worked at a country club in Florida I had so much prime rib that I burned out on the stuff.....it was good while it lasted but we had it every week for the members so the kitchen staff got to eat it also. Son just won't eat tomatoes and spinach is not going to entice him at all so may buy the small disposable tins and make a little portion for myself.

Even the regular sized frozen crusts are pretty small - I think you can get 8 inch crusts that are quite good. Tomato pie lasts the day I make it and 2 more days for me, though on the 3rd day it isn't as good. I have a slice when it cools, then refrigerate it and try to have it finished up the next day if possible. Looking forward to trying the spinach. BTW, somewhere in this topic is Cammie's version. I think the thread name is just Tomato Pie. That's the first one I tried, then added the bell peppers, sauteed with the onion. She has the cheese and mayo amounts just right - better than Paula Dean.

Click on Kitchen and it's next to the last thread. That sounds good. Mr. B lavishly loves fried potatoes which I don't fix often enough to suit him. We had beef tips over butter noodles and slices of a very nice watermelon.

If you're in the U. S., heads up! Healthy Choice is having a major sale on their new entrees and (shock ) they're really quite good - for what they are, after all (frozen diet food). The Sesame Chicken has a strange dessert though - Peach Curry Crumble. Otherwise, the 2 varieties we've tried were definitely eatable for lunch at work or a quick meal anywhere with a microwave.

Roasted pork tenderloin, potatoes au gratin, fried apples w/cinnamon, sugar and vanilla, dinner rolls and cole slaw. Not our usual week night meal, but we had guests so splurged. It was very good if I do say so.
