We ate a late lunch at an outdoor beer garden over near Cincinnati. Beautiful day so it was very nice. It was our big meal for the day. Tonight, probably something in a bowl - soup or cereal.

Today we had leek and cheese soufflé with tomato and onion salad. It was lovely even if I do say so myself. I love Spring cooking - everything seems so much fresher and lighter.

For lunch today? Last night's bolgnese in a sandwich! Yum! Oh Patrick - dinner in a sandwich is one of my favourite things. Shepherd's pie makes and especially good sandwich but you must use real butter (salted) and white bread for the proper effect! ;D

Just had to mention shepards pie didn't you? One of my all time favorites and maybe will make some this weekend to treat myself.
I had a turkey sandwich for lunch with a crunchy dill pickle

I'm going to make a variation of the shepards pie to suit out tastes......I've cubed up some roast and will cook that until tender in a thick gravy and then place the taters and cheese on top and bake

Tonight, we had lasagna from the Pioneer Woman's best lasagna ever recipe. It really is the best I've ever tasted. Just had that and fresh apple slices and garlic toast. Lots left over for later in the week. Here's the step by step recipe. thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2007/06/the_best_lasagn/

We have our main meal at lunchtime, à la française. Today, home made Yorkshire pudding filled with home made beef bolognaise, followed by the last slice of Madame's pear pie. (With a glass of Jurançon of course!) Tomorrow is Tuesday, so the fish vendor comes. Have to be up early.

(With a glass of Jurançon of course!) Tomorrow is Tuesday, so the fish vendor comes. Have to be up early. I think it's probably much healthier to have the main meal at mid-day, but, here, many of us like to have the dinner meal with our family, and it's very difficult to get everyone together until evening. I love pear pie, btw.

A friend gave me a meatloaf recipe that I tried this evening. It sounded a bit strange and I wasn't sure it would be good, but it turned out to be surprisingly tasty. Dinner Meatloaf 1 lb ground round 1 egg 1/2 c milk, 1 c Italian bread crumbs 1/4 tsp salt a shake or two of pepper 1 sm. onion, chopped fine 2 Tbsp brown sugar 2 Tbsp mustard 1/3 cup ketchup
RECIPE: In bowl mix beef, egg, milk, bread crumbs, salt, pepper, & onion. Shape into one loaf in square baking dish. In separate bowl mix brown sugar, mustard, ketchup. Pour over meatloaf. Bake at 350 for 50 min. Check for doneness.
