This is November 2, 2010, election day in America.
My wife and I visited our local polling station today. We voted for 100% of the Republican candidates and 0% of the Democrats.
We're hoping that most Americans will do the same. Today's the day for sending a message to the Obama crowd that they've worn out their welcome and they're no longer wanted here.

Wow, I have to say that the Democrats got a flogging in the House and from how it's being reported here, that Obama has got big probs to solve. This tea party deal really has taken hold. Pelosi was dumped as Speaker of the House. Even Obama's Senate seat went to a Repunblican. Amazing to see what can happen in 2 years. Mind you, our PM was stabbed in the back before he got anywhere near 2 years in office.
Interesting times for the US.

That's what I do also Cheffie. I want the person that I think will actually do something for the people instead of themselves.
Don't know that that is what we ever get.....but I always stay hopeful.
Will be interesting to see what shakes out of this.

To a distant observer, Obama came to power in the teeth of a hurricane. Two ongoing wars started by the republicans; then the developing banking crisis with the real danger of a fiscal collapse. I just wonder what answers the Republicans have, and what they would do that is different?
Or perhaps they really DO think that Sarah Palin will ride to their rescue.

I sort of agree with you Ben.
Also, while fiscal conservatism is one thing, some of these tea-party loons just come across as absolutely bonkers. You wouldn't want them running a whelk stall, never mind the last remaining superpower.
That woman who did that broadcast, all shiny hair and white teeth, which began with the immortal words . . "I am not a witch".
I loved that. I've been playing that on repeat all week and it doesn't get any less pml-y amusing.
But seriously? I mean, seriously???

If the 2 parties really ARE different, then WHY are our freedoms slowly dying no matter who's in office? Seriously? Also, ALL the candidates in the last US presidential election had the same advisors EXCEPT for Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich (I'm pretty sure). I posted this info a while back on here and it was willfully ignored ( : .

Or perhaps they really DO think that Sarah Palin will ride to their rescue. the republicans NEVER have rational answers. their answers are to go back to stealing from the poor to give to the rich, just as they always have been. virtually every republican campaigned on their being proud that they are so despicable that they believe it is better for a baby to die rather than have cigna lose a penny in profit. they will fall flat on their worthless asses again, just like dumbya did

Jumbo - It is so sad that Jerry 'Moonbeam' Brown won the California governor's race. Ditto for Barbara Boxer retaining her California Senate seat. Really sad that Chuck Schumer was reelected in NY. Even looney Shirley Jackson Lee was reelected. Yesterday was great progress but there is much more work to do in the next election.

No June. The deficit was caused by excessive spending especially on social programs. Obama's health care program is just more of the same. Government agencies are bloated bureaucracies that just grow and grow. Layoffs are in order.
Our Democrats have had the same game plan for decades. It is to tax the productive members of society and use those funds to purchase votes from the unproductive members (who unfortunately outnumber the productive folks).

This does not make any logical sense to me. I must be missing something. Surely Obama has been in power for 2 years, and before that America had 8 years of Republican Presidencies. Are you honestly saying that, in just 2 years, Obama has managed to take the sleek, unbloated administration of George W Bush and turned it into the bloated state you talk of now? Seems a little unlikely. Still, nobody ever went broke underestimating Americans' ability to think logically.

But then, the global meltdown didn't affect me at all and Australia overall didn't take as big a hit as you did OS. I'm not that into US politics but it seems iffy to me that 2 years of Obama could send the US into a spiral.
