Dearest RV! I suppose you expect staunch Muslims as well as all mankind to accept the theory of evolution, deny all creationist theories, believe in "global warming" and other theories of science or you would describe them as a "backward stupid race"!!? Or is the "backward stupid race" designation reserved only for Americans in your world of double standards!
How do you explain this American "backward stupid race" protecting it's residents with the First Admentment-a protection of free speech-and prevents people from facing discrimination for voicing their beliefs! I suppose you feel it's OK to fire a teacher or politician in the UK for not believing in evolution or the big bang!

There was always some reasonable doubt as to whether or not Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi was involved in this terrorist attack. A conviction has to be beyond reasonable doubt. I believe he still maintains innocence! I think letting the appeal go through and demonstrating the lack of evidence would have been a better way to resolve this than the alledged humanitarian release.
The speculation that BP played a role in the release to obtain drilling rights in Libyan waters is interesting.

I expect people who call themselves educated to do, so at any case. I would expect the people who whose job it is to decide what is taught in science classes, to least understand the basis on which the science behind any theories are arrived at. When people dispute anything, they should at least have the capacity to understand what it is they dispute and how that fits in with the science. Someone who uses the term 'Gore Bull Warming', for example, that person is obviously too stupid to understand the science behind the theory. Unfortunately, not only are your fellow Countrymen and women too stupid to understand the science, these morons actually are the opinion formers in your Country. We have anti science fuckwits in our Country as well, but few of them get into important jobs, certainly to the extent, that they can actually influence policy. That is the main difference between your Country and mine. Your backward people are treated as heroes, our halfwits are treated, by and large, as halfwits. Don’t get me wrong, I accept that there is a resurgence of anti-science belief in our Country and perhaps we will be brought to your level, but right now, we are safe.
I suppose you feel it's OK to fire a teacher or politician in the UK for not believing in evolution or the big bang!It depends on which subject the teacher or politician is responsible for. If that teacher is teaching religious studies, music, art or home economics then that would be fine, but if that teacher is teaching something that actually matters like science, then yes, we need to sack those teachers. People are quite entitled to their own opinions, but they are not entitled to their own facts. If they wish to believe that the Earth was created in seven days that is fine, if they attempt to teach children that in a science class? They’re gone in my book.

Either Lin builds a password protected board for all the Muslim crap or, I need to find a new message board that has interesting debates..." Interesting debates can be patronising - "'not only are your fellow Countrymen and women too stupid to understand the science," Interesting debates can be forthright - "these morons actually are the opinion formers in your Country." Interesting debates can be informative - "We have anti science fuckwits in our Country as well" Interesting debates can be halfwitted - "Your backward people are treated as heroes, our halfwits are treated, by and large, as halfwits." What an Interesting style of debate.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-10751128 It is shame that his appeal was dropped, but possibly there was a fear that the man would die in prison only to be found innocent. Possibly also the release meant an end to an investgation that would have discovered the full extent to which the Scottish criminal justice system was coerced by America. Embarassing all round should that come to light. The suggestion that BP had a role is not 'interesting'; it's nonsensical, and part of the mass hate against that company that American politicians seem to be fostering. BP talked to the British Govt., not the Scottish.

BP talked to the British Govt., not the Scottish. The authorities had to stop the appeal and keep the evidence under wraps. Asked why the Scottish government would be keen to see the appeal dropped, Oliver Miles - former UK ambassador to Libya, said he had been told by Scottish sources that there was growing anxiety in the Scottish justice department that a successful appeal by al-Megrahi would severely damage the reputation of the Scottish justice system. They were party to a travesty of justice and they knew it. Perhaps the Americans might like to come clean about their major role in the affair. But I doubt it.
