lawdy aubrey..human beings are suposed to improve not go backward...and its still the girls who are punished for transgressions but seemingly you have missed the point entirely... Wasn't your point how bad things are these days? My post was meant to show that we have improved, and improved because of liberalism. Pregnant girls are not forced onto the streets - weren't you objecting to them getting council houses and benefits? That is surely a good thing. Preferable - much preferable - to the non liberal alternative, anyway. The victorian way of dealing with too many babies was to chuck them in the Thames (in London anyway). Thanks to things like welfare and council housing (and liberalism in general), we don't really have that now. People are always going to do things that others don't like - especially young people. That's what they do. In Malmesbury, some people complained about local kids sitting in a little stone shelter and drinking cider. The local Police Chief said, "Look, kids have been doing that, in that same shelter, for hundreds of years. We're not going to stop them now." Intimidate? How? We used to have kids sitting and smoking on our stairs (up to our flat) which people thought was intimidating; but if you were polite, treated them like human beings, they were ok - they all got out of your way. I have never had a muslim coming to our door trying to convert me; we get xtians of various kinds all the time. On the other hand, the muslim family who used to live next door once came round with some lovely little pastries with which they were celebrating the end of Ramadam. I thought that was really sweet of them. (The pastries were nice, as well.) shakes head and sighs

It seems that most immigrants from Muslim countries either lose their Muslim heritage or were non-religious to begin with. The minority of practicing Muslims at least in Germany are the most law biding of the Muslim world immigrants. that is a very good point some times very much over looked just how many would define them selves as muslims if it were not for the family and social pressures and of course the ""death to apostates"" and how much better off the world would be if they could be honest....

Gordon Brown, the chancellor, has already made one significant concession to adapt to the dictates of sharia. In the 2003 Finance Act he spared Muslims from paying stamp duty twice on their properties when they took out “Islamic mortgages” that complied with the sharia ban on paying interest. The Islamic mortgages involve the lender buying the house — ownership is transferred to the purchaser only at the end of the repayment period. www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2087-1415741,00.html

GRAYLING: 'Government trying to keep December ruling quiet' Monday February 4,2008 By Gabriel Milland Political Correspondent Have your say(47] HUSBANDS who bring more than one wife to Britain can claim extra benefits for them at taxpayers’ expense.
Ministers have ruled that men in polygamous marriages can receive state handouts for each wife, including additional income support, even though bigamy is illegal in the UK.
A review of benefit rules for such marriages concluded in December that allowing husbands to claim for their additional wives remained the “best possible” option.
The decision will chiefly benefit Muslim men, as Islamic law allows them to have up to four wives.
Multi-marriages are recognised by the Government – provided the weddings took place in countries where the practice is legal. But critics last night attacked the decision as “completely unacceptable” and warned it could lead to demands for other changes in British laws.
Corin Taylor, of the Taxpayers’ Alliance, said: “British taxpayers are paying a record amount of tax so the Government has a duty to make sure that every penny is spent properly.
“Polygamy is not something which British law allows and British taxpayers should not have to pay for extra benefits for second or third wives.”
Tory spokesman Chris Grayling said: “You are not allowed to have multiple marriages in the UK, so to have a situation where the benefits system is treating people in different ways is totally unacceptable and will serve to undermine confidence in the system.
“This sets a precedent that will lead to more demands for the culture of other countries to be reflected in UK law and the benefits system.”
While a married man cannot obtain a spouse visa to bring a second wife into Britain, some multiple partners may be able to enter the country via other legal routes such as tourist visas, students
There are an estimated 1,000 polygamous marriages in the UK, meaning there could be up to 5,000 people involved.
The husband would be entitled to £90.80 a week income support for himself and his first wife and £33.65 for each additional wife.
The families would also be entitled to child benefits for every child and could argue for greater housing benefit and council tax credits because of the need for larger properties.

[attacks on jews were very few and far between,,,did you not take note of bushys malmo clip I seem to remember that Germany in the 1930s was not entirely free of attacks on Jews. I worked in a Jewish area of North London for many years, and I can assure you that the attacks that happened back in the 1980s were far more likely to be down to the National Front than any branch of Islam. There were several high-profile desecrations of Jewish cemeteries , and they were daubed with swastikas - which is not a Muslim symbol.

(The pastries were nice, as well.) shakes head and sighs OK - my post was all absolute bollocks, then (actually a very insulting word to men, as it says that one important (ok, two, then) part of our body is worse than rubbish). The bits about the muslims next door inviting us to share in their celebrations was made up (all Muslims just want to kill all us Westerners) - as was the bit about christers coming to our door and trying to get us to join their sect (Witnesses, Mormons, Catholics, Baptists) - yes, I made it up. Obviously nothing of the sort ever happens. And the thing about kids on Malmesbury was made up as well. Kids in groups always mean to do something bad; they are in a gang, which they have got tattoos for, and will kill anyone who goes near them. Kids are never in groups in shelters etc because there's nowhere else for them to go; the groups are never just groups of friends (were you never young, Mouse?). And, of course, babies are still chucked in the Thames. Big problem. There's stuff on the local news about it every day. Come on, which bit was it? I know that, being a vile pinko liberal, every word I say is bollocks (even the thes and the ands); but I'd really like to know where I can start to put things right.

The minority of practicing Muslims at least in Germany are the most law biding of the Muslim world immigrants. if that happened, there wouldn't be a problem, but it doesn't. there were tens of thousands of the imbeciles out burning down buildings and cars when the hilarious danish cartoons were published, just one example of a myriad of them

By the way, I might add that this thread is about the Islamization of Europe. It's obviously an interesting topic because there are twenty pages of postings so far. Twenty pages of posts which mostly reiterate the same scare stories without any evidence to back them up. Interesting? I don't think so! we can only present the truth to you, as we have for twenty pages. we cannot force you to open your eyes and see it. you have every right to continue stumbling around in the dark as you like

they should have the same rights under the law....rather than more rights as they have now they should not have the right to cover their face in public they should not have the right to demand special privilages[food/prayer rooms/exemptions from classes/uniforms etc etc they should not have the right to special treatment out of the public purse[housing/loos etc they should not have the rights to seperate courts..or special treatment by the media etc etc EVERY rational person knows that

Like "Resettlement" must have done), any problem that there might be becomes swamped by the brutality of the solution. They're people. And you do all that you can to forget it.

I would contribute more often to this thread but I see that Mouse and Jumbo have it covered very well.
However, I must respond to Aubrey's nonsense.
Aubrey - please try to get your head screwed on straight. I know it's a challenge.
If we have people who hate us, want to exterminate us, want to blow up our airplanes with passengers aboard, want to force us to accept their incredibly weird religion, consider anyone who is an 'unbeliever' to be fair game, consider their religious leaders (mullahs) to have greater authority than our national governments, refuse education and employment for women, and constantly remind us of Caliph centered societies from fifteen hundred years ago, then yes. Please escort them to the border and tell them to never return.

BA - if there is ever going to be a Theocracy in the US, it will be a Xtian one, seeing as how Christers are always in positions of power there - and that bloody prayers before meetings crap that young Bush did, and no athiest having a chance of becoming president: and dick heads like Pat Robertson nearly getting the Republican nomination that time. You ought to worry about how to deal with that, rather than a few powerless muslims.

If this is aubrey's? idea of tolerance, acceptance and working towards common ground between religious beliefs, I think my dog barking makes better sense. You don't trust the extremists in the Middle East. You work with the moderates in your own country. You may hate Islam. You may hate Christianity. You may Judaism. Go from there. Taoism may be on your hit list as well. I don't know and I don't care. But turning your back on people because of their religion or racial background is not going to get anyone anywhere.
