An entirely manufactured non-issue by the Tory media. . hardly manufactured mike.....he said what he thought off camera......thuis showing comtempt for the woman and the voting public who dare question his and his governments policies how you can say that was manufactured...it was more ""hoist with his own bigotry against the voter who dares disagree with him....his distain was plain for all to see and hear as for the tory press... ;D this wasnt ""tory"" press..it was reporters on the ground....hardly time to get the ok from tory masters ;D Meeting the voters is usually a carefully stage-managed affair..... Brown, of course, blames his aide...."YOU’RE supposed to provide them with the bloody questions. She should have been properly vetted. I’m not going to be made to look like a bloody tit because you don’t do your groundwork properly" If Brown's Dr Jeckyll had kept his Mr Hyde in check it would have been ok, but.... Gordon Brown: That was a disaster…should never have put me with that woman. Whose idea was that? Aide: I don’t know, I didn’t see her. Gordon Brown: Sue’s I think. Just ridiculous. Aide: Not sure that they’ll go with that one. Gordon Brown: They will go with that one. Aide: What did she say? Mr Brown: Everything, she was just a sort of bigoted woman who said she used to be Labour Aide: Used to be? Mt Brown: I think it was Sue. Get her for me. Aide: I don’t have her number. Aide: I do. (pause) Here you go. Mr Brown: Sue? Gordon. Was it you who found that last woman? (pause) Mr Brown: That last woman I met. The one who wouldn’t shut up. (pause) Mr Brown: Why didn’t you check her first? What a cock-up. (pause) Mr Brown: No she says she USED to support us. You’re supposed to check these things. (pause) Mr Brown: And she asked too many questions. (pause) Mr Brown: No, YOU’RE supposed to provide them with the bloody questions. We can’t afford any cockups at this stage. (pause) Mr Brown: I don’t care if she’s been a life-long supporter. Check and double-check. She should have been properly vetted. I’m not going to be made to look like a bloody tit because you don’t do your groundwork properly. Had the poor Sue been in the car with him I dare say he would have given her a slap.

"""Mr Brown: And she asked too many questions.
(pause)
Mr Brown: No, YOU’RE supposed to provide them with the bloody questions. We can’t afford any cockups at this stage."""
says it all....""your suposed to provide the questions""" all carefull choreographied....i wonder if such as brown are such a disaster because they NEVER get to meet anyone with a view that doesnt fit their agenda... anyone remeber the blair and the woman who wouldnt agree with him...that was yet another cock up brown lives a life far removed from reality of immigration...both in westminster and his own constituency...his children will not be held back at school by diversity...his job prospects will not go down the pan in competition with some one who can work for less pay...his wife will not be on a labour ward with a midwife who cannot speak english...he will not wait to be re-housed while those who have only just arived have more points for public housing..his wife will not be insulted when walking down the street because of uncovered hair...he will not be intimidated for his vote.. etc etc

found this elswhere...so they have started n mrs duffy...because she had the temerity to speak to gordon about things they wanted to keep in the dark....how dare a voter speak of her concerns.... **For a while Mandelson and Whelan tried to blame the Murdoch press / Sky News. When that didn’t work they Mandelson dropped out of view. Whelan and Prescott, in what is pretty disgraceful lying, are now claiming Mrs Duffy is bought and paid for by Lord Bell and the Sun. It is as if Damian McBride had never gone away… order-order.com/So now the smearing of Mrs Duffy starts.

I understand immigration fears - PM Gordon Brown has insisted he understands public fears on immigration Gordon Brown has insisted that he did understand public fears about immigration as he tried to put behind him his gaffe of branding a pensioner a "bigoted woman".
As he prepared for the third and final leaders' debate, the Prime Minister said he now wanted to concentrate on the economy following his encounter with 66-year-old Gillian Duffy on the campaign trail.
"Yesterday is yesterday. Today I want to talk about the future of the economy," he declared as he addressed workers at a factory in Halesowen in the West Midlands.
But the issue of immigration continued to dog him, with one worker demanding what he was going to do about it during a question-and-answer session with staff.
Gordon Brown has apologised for calling widow Gillian Duffy 'a bigoted woman' Full Image Mr Brown insisted that he understood the sense of public concern, pointing to the Government's introduction of an Australian-style points system for workers coming from outside the EU.

Brown is, quite rightly, toast.
What a nasty piece of work he is.

I just can't see why the world and his wife feel the need to get all huffy about it. So GB thinks the woman is a bigot, is he not allowed to think that? Is it better for him to have lied and said she was a lovely woman etc if he didn't feel that upon meeting her? Are elderly women exempt from criticism? What baffles me is why seemingly intelligent people (and the media ;D) get knots in their knickers over such puerile distractions. I wish the media at least would put as much effort into looking at the policies of the parties.

yes he is allowed to think that..and yes he is allowed to say that....what he is not allowed to do is be such a hyporcrite...that is what all the fuss is about if he thinks she is a bigot for having an alternate view...fine....but he should not turn round and say it was a misunderstanding or ""you shouldnt have let me talk the THAT WOMAN"" he should not have shown his utter contempt for a raft of labour voters...which is what he did..... and an honest man would not have apologised...and an honest man would not have expected his minions to have provided the questions for the woman to ask he has been shown for what he is..a man willing to blame all but himself for his mistakes..and a man with contempt for voters who dare question his policies..a weak man with a self inflated ego

and he misheard the word "flocking"
which is why he thought her a bigot.

and, frankly, if this is a story made up by his media spinners ................

Gordon Brown called the woman bigoted because he genuinely felt that her attitude towards immigration WAS bigoted.
Why he should be forced to apologise for that is beyond me.
I'd rather have a leader with convictions than one like Dodgy Dave who will say anything to get elected and who wouldn't know a genuine idea if it bit him on the ankle.
I've warmed considerably to Gordon Brown during the last few weeks and I honestly think that Cameron would be a WORSE choice for Britain.
I'm still voting Lib Dem but I hope Cameron loses because if HE becomes Prime Minister it will be a DISASTER for Britain!
