its in the hadiths not the koran...the main point is that at mohameds time many women went bare breasted...it is entirely down to mohamed...the hadiths being considered holy write ie mohamed said or did and allah agreed..in that mohamed said words from him were to be considered as if god himself had spoken and so the scarf/veil originally a head /shoulders covering protection from the heat of the sun became an islamic thing for women to hide them from the lustful gaze of men when asked mohamed said they should draw their veil [head and shoulder covering]across from their shoulders and cover their breasts....to cover their booty its rather like female circumsion..when asked what he thought about fgm he replied a ""little cut""...and we all know where that let...originally it was a tribal thing but was taken on board by muslims of the area as an islamic dictat

walking behind or walking whille men rode was a safety measure originally...the man in front to scout the area and protect the woman...rather like the man riding so that he wasnt to tired to fight a passing marauder or lion....but again over the centurys and islamic thinking it also especially under the leader Umar became an islamic norm as did the making of jews to wear YELLOW cloth on their clothing so they could not be mistaken for a muslim

That reminds me of the story of the man who wanted to enter court with a parrot on his shoulder. His barrister (a friend of my OH) argued there was nothing in the rules to ban parrots, only dogs. In the end the court clerk triuphantly declared that there was a ban on recording devices, and the parrot was a recording device. Of course, slogans on tee shirts are the transparant way of showing your character. But I think every item we put on says something about us. very true. everyone knows without having to be told. i don't suppose that you'd approve of my shirt, and bumper sticker, that says, "the more i get to know women, the smarter my dog is". and no, i'm certainly no male chauvinist

what kind of sense is there to having thirty pairs, or more, of shoes? if i were to grant the "necessity" of having a pair of shoes for an outfit, a white pair and a black pair will match EVERY outfit. i acknowledge the fact that females labor under the delusion that everything is supposed to match, but constantly buying new shoes every time you buy a new shirt is insane. i would sometimes wear another shirt over a tshirt for a special occassion, or if my ol' lady whines enough, but, there is no reason for it. otherwise, during the spring and summer, the chances of my wearing anything but a tshirt is zilch. besides, i spend a lot of money having neat sayings printed on my shirts, and it would be rather daft to cover it up. what good would it to do wear my "please tell your boobs to quit staring at my eyes" shirt to the store if no one can read it? there is nothing better than a smartly turned out male... i am afraid we are simply not compatable Jumbo..... even my grandsons wear what is apropriate to the ocasion a nd have more thn two pairs of shoes i'm assuming that by "smartly turned out" you mean a suit and tie. you're right. i don't even own a sports jacket or dress pants. i can wear jeans whereever i need to go. i haven't had a tie on in fifteen years

I don't much care for men who spend a fortune on clothes; I suppose that's what attracted me to Mr Lark. He moved in with two black binbags from his bedroom and two carloads from the kitchen. He no longer owns a jacket that fits and spends more money on his boat than on clothes. Much more money ...

This mohammed dude was a prude. Case closed it's strange that a pedophile could be a prude, but of course, you're right. the fool like screwing nine year old girls instead of women time and place jumbo...different times different norms... and although ayisha was very young[even her father was taken aback] and not too happy i dont think we can really level the charge of pedophillia in that it wasnt every pubesent girl mohamed had an eye for which is i think the essence of a pedophile that they constantly go for children...just the one girl..and yes he took her prior to her periods....but it apears to have been a happy marriage...lots of laughter and play...even if he did thump her....now and again so it wasnt nine year old GIRLS ..but one 9yr old girl horses for courses

NOT different times and norms. in those times, it was the norm for 13 year old girls to marry off. NEVER, anywhere, has it been okay for nine year olds

no a man can be smart without a collar and tie...time and place is every thing i solve that problem by intentionally choosing to not hobnob with the stuffy folks. i prefer to go to a church where some are wearing coveralls.

Like you probably, he wouldn't hesitate to go shopping in muddy jeans and like you, won't go to certain functions if it means dressing up. But he does care what others think, and wouldn't dream of wearing anything ostentatious any more than he would dream of saying anything offensive to anyone.

Quote the smelling good part i qualify. it used to be hi karate, but i've graduated to stetson.
Smelling good starts with a good lot of soap and water and ends with just a touch of fragrance.
Quote i consider a resturant, for example, which doesn't want to let you in for dinner unless you have a suit and tie, to be VERY stuffy. not much different than going to the opera, and i'd damn sure rather go to a toby keith concert This sounds like reverse snobbery. Surely I'm reading it wrong.
