that's just such a silly remark. there are millions of jokes that are funny yet do not offend anyone. Yeah ok, pass the jelly would you. is that a catch phrase? off some TV programme that you watch?

what are you on about?
clean jokes?
pass the jelly?
all i am saying is that the idea (your idea) that all jokes will offend somebody somewhere is demonstrably not the case.
if you live in a world where the only comedy that you encounter is roy 'chubby' brown or jimmy carr then yeah, it's a conclusion easily reached - but there is more to comedy than that narrow view.
can't you see that?

Here's a tough question. What's more offensive?
1. -> Jokes that are offensive, or
2. -> People who are so easily offended that they can't take a joke.
Put me down as having voted for number 2

Can women be trusted? ? A woman and a man driver are involved in a horrific collision, but amazingly both escape completely unhurt - though their cars are written off. As they crawl out of the wreckage, the man sees the woman is blonde and strikingly beautiful. Then the woman turns to the man and gushes breathily: 'That's incredible - both our cars are demolished but we're fine. It must be a sign from God that we are meant to be together!' Sensing a promise, the man stammers back, 'Oh yes, I agree with you completely!' The woman goes on, 'And look, though my car was destroyed, this bottle of wine survived intact, too! It must be another sign. Let's drink to our love!' 'Well, OK!' says the man, going with the moment. She offers him the bottle, so he downs half of it and hands it back. 'Your turn,' says the man. 'No, thanks,' says the woman, 'I think I'll just wait for the police.'

So how do you feel about jokes that make fun of people's suffering - like jokes about the death camps under the Nazis, jokes about disabled people?
I am offended by them but I DON'T consider myself politically correct in any way.

Politically Correct is a name tighty-righties invented to disparage liberals - who, of course, are more considerate, caring and compassionate. There is nothing wrong with being sensitive to the hurt one causes another.

There are plenty of considerate, caring and compassionate conservatives.
I don't think compassion is a monopoly of liberals.

Lin - When I was a kid we used to hear Italian Jokes, Polish Jokes, Black Jokes (called negro then), Aggie Jokes (referring to students and graduates of Texas A&M University), Jewish Jokes, Blonde Jokes, Redneck Jokes, etc. If you happened to live in Wisconsin many of these were turned into Hollander jokes because of the large Dutch population. None of them were politically correct by today's standards but many were really funny. What you should note about all of those examples is that some group had to be the butt of the joke. Instead of worrying about hurting someone's feelings we used to enjoy telling Italian jokes to our Italian American friends and Aggie jokes to Aggies.
I liked it that way better than the way it is now.

"A mix-up between metric and English units in the exchange of data between Lockheed and JPL led to a navigational error that doomed the orbiter as it entered the martian atmosphere on Sept. 23. The $125-million spacecraft either impacted Mars or went into orbit around the sun."

I believe the military thinks the slang term of Klick sounds cool.
