Anna, I think the reason it says sexiest man ALIVE is to keep the designation current - as opposed to sexiest man EVER. If Depp, or most of the 2009 possibles, went up against Paul Newman or Ryan ONeal or others, I'm sure, who I can't think of at the moment - in their prime - he wouldn't have won. It's all relative. With Depp, I think it has to do with his manner and overall persona as much as physical appearance. I kind of like Leonardo DiCaprio, maybe because of the film "Titanic". We should rename this thread to the sexiest man in his prime here and now or the sexiest guy under 40. Robert Redford is in his 70s, but still alive as is Clint Eastwood! I kind of view these guys as legends and immortal and Father Time is really unfair.

Mm. I like the look of Gerrard Butler, though I can't place him. But what is he like without the designer stubble, I wonder?

Anna, I agree with you about the "legends" but not about the under 40 part. Johnny Depp is 46 and certainly "in his prime". Every single one of the guys above are very nice looking and could qualify. Media says the star of the Twilight movies was Depp's biggest rival and #2.

I actually find Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones incredibly sexy even now.
Michael Douglas and Al Pacino USED to be when they were younger but now they've aged quite badly - especially Pacino.

I haven't seen the Twilight films yet, but the actor Robert Patterson was pretty good as Cederic in the Harry Potter film. woofsydog.glogster.com/Cedric-Diggory-is-sooo-HOTT

I absolutely love the professional baseball player Bobby Kielty, who's been playing with the Oakland Athletics and Boston Red Sox! I got a trace of red hair and don't tan well too. I tend to like the guys, where i feel we have something in common and other women seem to look for their opposite.

Is there an equivalent poll for sexy ladies? If so, I'm sure the gentlemen here would be happy to put forward their own nominations!

If you feel there's some guy, who should in your opinion be a candidate for sexiest man today feel free to post here. Who do you think would or should impress the ladies! I think the dummest and silliest thing possible is assuming that a guy must be homosexual, if he posts an opinion on this thread! Our members are certainly above such nonsense!

Anna - I was listening to a Radio series called Old Harry's Game and they mentioned dear Leo. he was described as a chubby young Norman Lamont - which made me chuckle muchly. It might not mean anything to you but, here is Leo in his 50's

Cool photos - what's the era? The passport photo was taken on March 10, 1972 in Barcelona Spain and the other photo was taken eight years earlier in 1964 in Singapore.
