Justine looked awesome.
Federer went five sets against Giles Simon.
Venus is hurt but managed to win her game. Will be surprised if she doesn't pull out of the tournament. Don't think she can play anymore. Seems to have a groin injury or something. Really looked in pain. I think the other girl may have won it.....she was doing well....and then Venus had a really long injury time out and it messed with the girl's timing and her head....and she just lost it after that.

Venus isn't gonna do it and I don't think Nadal will either.
Federer showed up here with Nadal and a host of others, male and female, to play charity matches last weekend to aid the victims of the QLD floods. He was pumped up and with it and even then Nadal was not looking good.
You know, I could be wrong but I don't think this is Nadal's tournament. And it's certainly not going to belong to one of the Williams. There's this new Russian chick and blowed if I can tell you her name - it's like 26 letters long but she blew Molik out of the water today and I think she's the one to watch out for.
I could be wrong. Usually am. Quite.

Nadal had the flu before the tournament. Was just getting over it is my understanding. So, maybe that was it. Hopefully it that is better. He played last night and was awesome, but played someone that really couldn't hurt him. Plays a tricky Australian next. Tomic.....or something like that.

Ah well.....Justine is out. Her serve failed her completely. Her toss is completely off. Tough one. Roddick still in. Djokovik's guy retired on him in the 2nd set. Federer playing Malisse right now and is already up 4-0 in the 1st......so doesn't look like a problem there.

Nadal didn't play all that well....but still took out the last Australian player, Tomic, in 3 sets. Nadal is just so fast and can cover so much court..........was still great to watch.

Wow.....soooo many top players out.
Schiavone won in an almost 5 hour match. It was amazing. I really love her. She is adorable!!! I hope she takes the whole thing.....but Clijsters is playing pretty amazing.....so it will be tough.
Nadal was awesome last night......was too late a game so I didn't get to watch it.....but the stats are great. Murray is also playing really well too....so that should be interesting. Nadal still says he's not 100 percent since his flu so could still be a struggle.
Federer is playing kind of odd.........plays a set well....then kind of checks out......or loses concentration.....don't know what it is........will see what happens.

Barcelona OpenRafael Nadal beat Davíd Ferrer 6-2, 6-4 in their second all-Spanish final in two weeks to win his sixth Barcelona Open title Sunday. The top-ranked Spaniard won his 29th consecutive match at the clay-court event when the fourth-seeded Ferrer hit a backhand wide. "It is a dream for me to win here six times," said Nadal, whose sole loss in Barcelona came against another countryman, Alex Corretja, in 2003. "I think it will be difficult to repeat. Six years is a long time in the life of a tennis player." Nadal won his 45th ATP Tour championship. He also defeated Ferrer in the Monte Carlo final April 17. Nadal won at Barcelona from 2005 to 2009, including finals victories over Ferrer in 2008 and 2009, before sitting out last year's event to rest. "I feel bad for David because no one deserves to win here more than him for what it means to him and the work he has put in to reach three finals," Nadal said after improving his career record against Ferrer to 13-5, including 5-0 in finals. Nadal has beaten Ferrer 10 consecutive times on clay since losing to him in 2004. Ferrer has played in four finals this year, winning two and finishing as runner-up to Nadal twice. Juan Martin del Potro, playing at his first clay-court tournament for 23 months, won his third ATP World Tour title on red dirt and his ninth trophy overall on Sunday at the Estoril Open.
The eighth-seeded Argentine defeated second seed Fernando Verdasco of Spain 6-2, 6-2 in the 76-minute final, played under cloudy skies at the Estadio Nacional.
Del Potro has now won 23 of his past 26 matches, rising from No. 484 in the South African Airways 2011 ATP Rankings on 11 February to his current position of World No. 46.
The Estoril Open titlist earned a first prize of €72,600 and 250 South African Airways 2011 ATP Ranking points, while Verdasco picked up a cheque for €38,200 and 150 points.
At the start of the pair's third meeting, there were three straight breaks of serve before Del Potro establish control of the first set with a 3-1 lead. Two wayward backhands gave del Potro a second service break, with Verdasco dropping his serve to 15.
Del Potro converted his second of three set point opportunities with an out ace wide in the deuce court to wrap up the opener in 33 minutes. He dropped just six points on serve.
Verdasco continued to struggle on serve in the second set. The World No. 15 lost his serve to 15 in the first game and del Potro went onto confirm the break with pinpoint accurate serves and forehand winners.
Serving at 2-4, 40/15, Verdasco appeared to be in control of his service game, but four straight groundstroke errors gifted former World No. 4 del Potro and 5-2 lead.
Thirteen minutes later, having saved one break point and on his third match point opportunity, del Potro completed a 14-point service game with a forehand winner. It was his 25th win of the year.
Del Potro, who dropped one set against Portuguese qualifier Pedro Sousa in the first round, captured his second ATP World Tour title of the year. In February he won at Delray Beach (d. Tipsarevic). He has now 9-3 lifetime in tour-level finals.
Verdasco, 27, won 12 of 24 points on serve and did not create a break point opportunity. The Madrid native, who beat del Potro in the San Jose semi-finals in February, dropped to a 12-9 record on the season.

Nadal is almost unbeatable on clay. He should win the French.
Novak Djokovic is better on grass and artificial surfaces, so he wins again at Wimbledon.
We watched the Wimbledon final last year in a theater with 3D. It was almost like being there. I may do it again this year.

Hi Sadie. I'm a tennis fan (well an all-sports fan really except for football).
Nadal is awesome this year at the French. Looking forward to the final and hope the weather is kind. Been a horrible June this side of the pond, not just in the UK but Paris has had rain and wind on and off throughout the tournament.
Don't mind who wins. Will be special in either case - either a seventh French for Rafa or another notch towards a grand slam for Novak.
On the women's side I want Errani to beat Sharapova. I cannot stand that woman's screaming TBH - totally unsporting. They should tighten up the rules on distraction. It's so much worse than grunting. Don't know how all the great sports stars like Laver, Court, Sampras, King etc. managed without sounding as if they were being murdered ;D

I've gotten used to the screeching.....they all seem to do it anymore. Hard for them to crack down on it now.
I like Sharapova........she just never stops fighting. Also...she could easily have just gone with modeling and stopped training so hard.....but she has stayed in there....even after the massive shoulder surgery. I think she's even faster on her feet....and more balanced.
Looks like she's got the French.....already took the 1st and is 4-1 in the second ...
Can't wait for the Nadal match......I'm a huge Nadal fan......just so talented.....love to watch him on clay.....it's just a thing of beauty......
