What do you all think of her run for NY Senate? Polls show she's slipping.
Caroline Kennedy losing ground in another NY poll Posted: 06:37 PM ET
From CNN Associate Editor Rebecca Sinderbrand Kennedy is getting more bad news in the latest poll out of New York.
(CNN) — A new survey of New York voters is the second poll in two days to find Andrew Cuomo pulling away from Caroline Kennedy.
Four in 10 registered New York voters in a Marist poll released Thursday say they would would like to see Cuomo, currently the state’s attorney general, tapped as Hillary Clinton’s Senate replacement. Twenty-five percent of those polled think New York Gov. David Paterson should pick Kennedy for the spot.
A month ago, both Kennedy and Cuomo drew the support of one in four New Yorkers.
Cuomo now holds a clear advantage over Kennedy among Democrats (39 to 31 percent), Republicans (40 to 16 percent), and voters not registered with a political party (42 to 24 percent), and across most regions of the state. Only in New York City is the daughter of former President John Kennedy come close to Cuomo’s showing: she is the favorite of 31 percent of the city’s voters, compared to the 36 percent who favor Cuomo.
Other candidates for the Senate seat — Nassau County executive Tom Suozzi, and Reps. Steve Israel, Carolyn Maloney and Kirsten Gillibrand — each draw single digit support.
There are some more red flags for Kennedy in the new survey. Her favorability numbers have tumbled over the past month, with fewer than half — 46 percent — saying they have a positive impression of her, compared to the 60 percent who felt the same last month. Cuomo’s numbers have held steady, with 60 percent saying they view him favorably, compared to the 64 percent who answered the same way in last month’s survey.
Just 41 percent of the state’s voters think Caroline Kennedy would do an above average job as senator; 62 percent say the same of Cuomo. And 20 percent of those surveyed say Kennedy would perform poorly — double the 10 percent who said the same of Cuomo.
A majority of New Yorkers — including majorities of both parties, and both genders — say Caroline Kennedy has been treated fairly by the media, although that number is lower among women than men. Fifty-one percent of the women polled say Kennedy’s media coverage is nothing to complain about, while 57 percent of men gave the same answer.
The phone survey of 603 registered New York voters was conducted on January 12-14, 2009, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent.

I have read much about the Kennedy's over the years and although Caroline is a well educated woman I would go with the more experienced person as she hasn't bothered to cut her teeth on any political issues in public except "I'm the daughter of a dead President and want to be a Senator now"
Senate seats and the Presidency are not natural birthrights to the Kennedys whether they like it or not.
I believe she has done a fine job of raising her children out of the spotlight and has done good works along the way but that doesnt qualify her for a Senate seat for the taking just because Daddy was assassinated
The taxpayers don't need another liberal out there giving away their hard earned money to the worthless dregs while taking every benefit in sight and never living like the rest of us
I guess I'm sick of the Kennedys as they never did anything worthwhile with their own money but used taxpayer money to further their liberal agendas and that is easy to look good when it is someone else's money
Nope, let Caroline stay home shoveling Macaroni's poop and the state of New York would be better off

Let's hope she slips out of sight altogether.
This woman is trying to cash in on the family name and she's hardly in the same league as Jack, Bobby or Teddy Kennedy. Much as I dislike all three of them, particularly Ted, they did at least try to contribute to US society and probably did more good than harm overall which is not a bad record for a politician.
Caroline should have run years ago if she had any genuine passion for politics.
Just because she's a woman doesn't mean us sisters automatically have to vote for her.

You used the key word....RUN
She never entered politics in any way and now just walks up and expects a senate seat be given to her on the strength of her name?

I'd rather see Bobby K. Jr. run if any Kennedy is going to pick up that seat. I like Caroline, but she seems to be more passive and uninvolved than the N.Y. Senate seat deserves. Is it too coincidental that Andrew Cuomo, CK's main competition, had a vicious little divorce from Kerry Kennedy abt. 5 years ago? Makes the whole thing seem a trifle personal.

I like Caroline as a person, but frankly don't think she's qualified. She's never even worked in her entire life. I wish her brother John were still alive. I would've been rooting for him in a New York minute.

Any of RFK's children and Teddy's children are to messed up to be in politics although some have been and disgraced themselves to no end. The only Kennedy that seemed to prove worthwhile was Kathleen, and is spite of Ethel being her mum, she has been a good politician with no scandals to her credit.

I would've been rooting for him in a New York minute. John was far more charismatic than his sister and would have been a shoo in on name factor alone but he needed to grow more than what he had before he died. He was to much of a bumbler when he died and was still to much of a risk taker to be the President and use sound judgement. He was on his way towards being what it takes to have been a good Senator then maybe President, but death robbed us of the chance of ever knowing if he would have what it takes to be a leader besides name recognition and personality.
