AP - April 9, 2024..Broken record: March is 10th straight month to be hottest on record scientists sayA volunteer distributes drinking water next to a bus stand on a hot summer day in Hyderabad, India, Thursday, March 21, 2024. Another month, another heat record for the planet. Earth just had its warmest March ever recorded, the 10th month in a row to set such a record, according to the European Union climate agency Copernicus. WASHINGTON (AP) — For the 10th consecutive month, Earth in March set a new monthly record for global heat — with both air temperatures and the world’s oceans hitting an all-time high for the month, the European Union climate agency Copernicus said. March 2024 averaged 14.14 degrees Celsius (57.9 degrees Fahrenheit), exceeding the previous record from 2016 by a tenth of a degree, according to Copernicus data. And it was 1.68 degrees C (3 degrees F) warmer than in the late 1800s, the base used for temperatures before the burning of fossil fuels began growing rapidly. Since last June, the globe has broken heat records each month, with marine heat waves across large areas of the globe’s oceans contributing. Scientists say the record-breaking heat during this time wasn't entirely surprising due to a strong El Nino, a climatic condition that warms the central Pacific and changes global weather patterns. “But its combination with the non-natural marine heat waves made these records so breathtaking,” said Woodwell Climate Research Center scientist Jennifer Francis. With El Nino waning, the margins by which global average temperatures are surpassed each month should go down, Francis said. Climate scientists attribute most of the record heat to human-caused climate change from carbon dioxide and methane emissions produced by the burning of coal, oil and natural gas. “The trajectory will not change until concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere stop rising,” Francis said, “which means we must stop burning fossil fuels, stop deforestation, and grow our food more sustainably as quickly as possible.” Until then, expect more broken records, she said. Under the 2015 Paris Agreement, the world set a goal to keep warming at or below 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) since pre-industrial times. Copernicus’ temperature data is monthly and uses a slightly different measurement system than the Paris threshold, which is averaged over two or three decades. Samantha Burgess, deputy director of Copernicus, said March's record-breaking temperature wasn't as exceptional as some other months in the past year that broke records by wider margins. “We've had record-breaking months that have been even more unusual,” Burgess said, pointing to February 2024 and September 2023. But the “trajectory is not in the right direction," she added. The globe has now experienced 12 months with average monthly temperatures 1.58 degrees Celsius (2.8 degrees Fahrenheit) above the Paris threshold, according to Copernicus data. In March, global sea surface temperature averaged 21.07 degrees Celsius (69.93 degrees Fahrenheit), the highest monthly value on record and slightly higher than what was recorded in February. “We need more ambitious global action to ensure that we can get to net zero as soon as possible,” Burgess said.

Hunny, you do not need to be right-wing to be sceptical about the hysteria and downright lies put about by the ecofascists. They have consistently suppressed evidence to the contrary, used "models" rather than hard data and used different methods of saving and analysing data in order to "achieve" the "result" that confirms their preconceptions. The ice in Antarctica is growing; the temperature was hotter in the Middle Ages than it is now. And so on and so on. Weather is not climate. And the ecofascist agenda is part of a vast right-wing conspiracy against the poor and the working class. The Greta Thunbergs of the world, like the Klaus Schwabs, the David Ickes and others of that ilk are engaged in the establishment of a fascist dictatorship and the impoverishment of the majority of the world population. That is the sad reality about the "Green" agenda

HUNNY REPLIES:
Inland from Boston.. winter always meant 6-10 feet of snow (3 metres) and in each of January and February, a five day spell of 8 below zero Farenheit nights (-22 C).
But winters over the last 50 years became steadily warmer and snow-free. Our winters are now a continuous 50 to 55 F (12+ C). And we go years without any snow!
I can't emphasize enough: normal is gone! This is an area that always made money providing snow covered mountains for skiing! Now forget it.
We'd ice skate on frozen lakes, December through March. Now.. never.
This year, March came with a foot of snow which we never get anymore, so it seemed good...but it melted quickly and the temperature resumed 50-55F (10-13C).
No one could suggest to anyone who lives here and experiences actual global warming, the change of it, that things are fine! Things are depressingly not fine.
New England's climate has changed from Arctic to Mediterranean over 50 years. The change accrued steadily. This is real damage we are experiencing.
Even studying the cosmos and space exploration shows it's all too real. We devote such an amount of our collective space exploration resources to measuring & monitoring Earth.
I suggest politics makes fools of humanity. We should never have split into reality-versus-imagined opposition. It's fictional and hatist and makes us self-destructive fools.
We're kept as an us-versus-them that can't get anything done. Because stymied division dis-empowers us, as needed.
And so I post here an article documenting that 10 months in a row Earth has had "hottest on record" temperatures.
And it's because we've WRECKED the planet. Oh it'll survive, but the sea-level rise from melting Arctic ice means coastal areas will lose real estate! And this will disrupt economy and lives. It will change things we don't want changing. So it's been only right to sound the alarm, and since the 90's we've been doing so.
But as always, America's Republicans, who just want to wreck everything to fleece a quick profit, NEED TO BE OPPOSITIONAL LIARS.
Because to oppose reality, one has to offer potential suckers supporters something "other than it".
But The People they wish to oppose are actually doing all the good needed things. So Republicans feel compelled to oppose good needed things.
And instead offer: stupid, instead of smart. Terrible, instead of good. Destructive...and so on. How Trumpian. *ashamed*
Again, because Democrats attend REALITY, so an opposing Party needs to say reality isn't real! Good is bad! Up is down. Snots are candy (yes, republicans do think that) (Well they thought Donald Trump was decent, didn't they.)

The American Climate Corps is now hiring
The Biden administration aims to sign up 20,000 people in the program's first year April 23, 2024 You can now apply to be one of the first members of the American Climate Corps. President Joe Biden declared that the program was open for applications on Monday with 273 jobs currently listed on the White House’s website, including coastal conservation in Florida, stream restoration in Montana, and forest management in the Sierra Nevada. The administration said the number of openings will soon reach 2,000, with positions spanning 36 states plus Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C. “You’ll get paid to fight climate change, learning how to install those solar panels, fight wildfires, rebuild wetlands, weatherize homes and so much more,” Biden said at a press conference on Monday at Virginia’s Prince William Forest Park, originally built in 1936 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Civilian Conservation Corps, a model for the Biden administration’s new program. “It’s going to protect the environment to build a clean energy economy.” It’s part of an Earth Day-related policy push from Biden, who also announced $7 billion in grants to install solar power and reduce energy costs for 900,000 low-income and disadvantaged households. The moves might appeal to the young people who were crucial to Biden’s 2020 victory over President Donald Trump and who, according to polls, have been souring on his performance in the White House. But this same demographic supports climate action, according to a poll taken last week by CBS News and YouGov, with more than three-quarters of those surveyed from both parties saying they wanted the U.S. to take steps to address climate change. Monday’s announcements also offered a glimpse into what climate corps positions might be available in the future, as the White House looks to employ 20,000 people in the program’s first year, with a target of 200,000 in five years. A new partnership with Trades Futures, a nonprofit construction company, suggests that members could help fill the country’s shortage of skilled workers who can install low-carbon technologies like electric vehicle chargers and heat pumps, while at the same time gaining skills toward getting good-paying jobs. The White House is also planning to place American Climate Corps members in so-called “energy communities” — such as former coal-mining towns — to help with projects like environmental remediation. "You’ll get paid to fight climate change, learning how to install those solar panels, fight wildfires, rebuild wetlands, weatherize homes and so much more." The pay for the listed jobs ranges dramatically depending on location and the experience required. On the lower end, coastal restoration jobs in Puerto Rico offer the equivalent of $12.50 an hour. On the upper end, a position for a biological technician in Idaho that requires experience in identifying plants and managing invasive species pays $23 an hour. The lengths of the terms are all over the place, with some as short as two or three months, though most last at least several months, and the website says that some jobs can be extended or renewed. Biden first announced that he planned to revive a version of FDR’s Civilian Conservation Corps during his first days in office in 2021. But the program took a while to get off the ground after its funding got cut during negotiations with Senator Joe Manchin, a Democrat from West Virginia, to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, the landmark climate bill Biden signed in 2022. In time, the Biden administration cobbled together funding from a bunch of different agencies to start the program, but it’s much smaller than climate advocates had hoped. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from New York and Senator Ed Markey from Massachusetts had called for 1.5 million jobs over a span of five years in legislation introduced in 2021. Still, Ocasio-Cortez celebrated the corps’ official arrival at the press conference on Monday. “People said then it was impossible,” she said. “We knew an American Climate Corps wasn’t impossible because our country has done this before … What we needed, though, was the political will.” This article originally appeared in Grist at grist.org/politics/biden-american-climate-corps-is-now-hiring/.

Notice REPUBLICANS didn't want to do anything at all about it. Also notice that CNN posted a story on Earth Day intended to make people think there isn't an Earth Day. (Remember the republicunts telling us CNN is 'liberal'?) This evil - the republicans - should be destroyed. It decimated American democracy and infected the whole rest of the world. REPUBLICANISM IS DISEASE.
