as we fund the NHS and pay their wages then we have every right to know what they are paid, what are they trying to hide? transparency is very important especially in organisations like the NHS.

Exactly. They kill enough people already through incompetence, neglect and deliberate murder. (Look at Liverpool, Mid-Staffs, Telford and Shrewsbury and others - not counting Shipman and his ilk.)

The only reason they do not wish their pay to be public is because they already do hardly any work for a grossly inflated sum of money. Most doctors work 2 days a week and are on a MINIMUM of a hundred grand a year.

The medical profession needs radical reform but you will not get it until the NHS ceases to be a sacred cow beyond criticism.
