You may not want to take the time to explore this site, now - right this minute - but, one day, you may be glad to have it in your favorites. www.chillingeffects.org/

This is a GREAT website!!!! I bookmarked it, so thanks Beth.
I had a terrible experience at a motel in New Hampshire and posted some negative reviews of my experience on some Travel Review websites.
Because my negative experience was so unique, the hotel owner knew exactly who did the posting and he called me at my home to threaten me with a lawsuit for slander and for an "organized attempt to ruin his business."
What a joke. I told him that the truth is always a perfect defense in a lawsuit, and the First Ammendment protects me expressing my experience at his lousy hotel online.
Still...I really could've used this website at the time.

That's a good example of the value of Chilling Effects Clearinghouse, Karen. Glad you were aware of your rights and didn't back down. This link is also one that every internet site owner, administrator and moderator should have handy - especially if the site contains message bases. Most members are terrific, but some are a problem. Good to know where you stand.
