We're in the Houston suburbs. It looked like our place would be flooded yesterday as rising water reached the curb in front of our yard. After sweating it out all night the water retreated a little. There is still rain so it could rise again, but not as threatening as it was yesterday. Here is a photo of rescue boats being launched from the street in front of our house. Major roads are all blocked. This is the worst we've ever seen it.

Wolf hasn't around, he might have lost power. We get ice storms and blizzards and lose power and it sucks, but water so deep does a different type of damage. Many people are losing everything the had. Its so sad. The said on tv that Houston is on clay which makes matters worse.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all those effected by this horrific storm! Did you know ahead of time, BA? If so, what made you stay and not seek safety elsewhere? May God protect you all!

Our house hasn't ever flooded since it was built in 1976. This was the highest flood level the nearby creek has reached since 1949.

Earlier this spring we had an unusual amount of rain and the creek at the edge of our backyard overflowed its banks and It was pretty scary watching the water rise. It caught my eye because the moon was shining off it and I was at the kitchen window and I'm like, woah and got my husband up to take a look. I wanted to be able to see the creek better from the house but not THAT much better!

It just keeps coming with bad news and disaster! I feel for everyone effected! Oh my goodness blc that must have been scary! There's another storm brewing behind Harvey called Irma or something like that?! It's to hit the resort areas like Caribbean, etc. This all just blows me away! Stay safe BushAdmirer!

We're OK but our nexdoor neighbor got an inch of water in their house. Our street slopes downhill very sightly. At most, we're just very slightly uphill from them. Very lucky for us, not so much for them.

I'll have to go check, I didn't realize there was another brewing. I'd like to go check the outer banks. but maybe it would be better to wait until hurricane season is over.

I know the feeling, blc, and as much as I'd love for you to get to go to the Outer Banks, I'd hate to see something horrible happen! Be safe!
