I don't wholly agree with this and said so (as 'Lamarckist'). I think it much more likely that the lighter skinned went further North and interbred and some left behind interbred, each to exacerbate the tendency. (But some of those 'behind' are so gorgeous

;D ). It must have happened relatively fast too unless our paleontology is further up the creek than we imagine.
