Things certainly taste a bit "different" when nuked as a opposed to traditionally cooked, so something is going on.
I don't like microwaved food unless it is a product that is designed for a microve.

We use the microwave mostly to reheat individual portions, nuke popcorn or cook snacks that are made for that kind of preparation. Since heating/cooking food is largely a matter of drawing off the liquid, I'm not too concerned. I'd never actually "cook" raw food that way, though. lol My husband says "bite your tongue". He is very proud when he has labored over the hot microwave to thaw and heat frozen yummies.

I use the microwave to reheat but I've never seen how it can cook anything faster than conventional. It was a big let-down, even dangerous. My kettle is bust so I stuck a mug of water in the microwave and when I took it out after 5 minutes was suitably boiling, but the moment I put coffee granules in it was everywhere! I think the best ever convenience cooking device is the pressure cooker you can't find any more. How else can you cook beetroot?

I only "micro-nuke" the specially for the microwave oven prepared meals and there's a big selection of such meals,,e.g. Paelli, Chinese Wok Vegetables, etc. etc. . It sure saves time, when you're on the go. I love these frozen vegetables, like Broccoli, which according to the link i posted are especially damaged in microwave ovens. When i do real cooking i like simple stuff, like brown rice, millet or potatoes and i might slice up some tomatoes, onions or mushrooms to go with it, but i don't like cooking meat or complicated stuff! How 'bout a restaurant for that!
