Almost everyone knows that Hellcraft missiles fired from US Predator Drone aircraft are reported to have killed Taliban Chieftan Baitullah Mehsud. But very few understand the command and control technology behind the Predators. Watch this video to see how it's done. The Predators are controlled from a base in Nevada. There has been considerable debate about the morality of such attacks. Irfan Husain puts it rather well in this Dawn editorial tinyurl.com/ncxjgtMy own opinion is that there must be different rules for civilian law and war. Soldiers in a war shouldn't be required to offer due process to enemy soldiers. Those killers in Mumbai deserved to be shot on sight without any legal recourse. The enemy has taken the gloves off. They will use AK-47's on civilans; suicide bombers in markets and mosques, and roadside bombs that kill whomever might drive on that roadway. We should not restrict the abilities of our police and soldiers to counter these acts of terror. An eye for an eye. When you go up against an Adolph Hitler you shouldn't spend a lot of time ruminating and worrying about Adolph's rights or the possible collateral damage to his family and neighbors when you drop a 15,000 pound bomb on his house. The priority is, and should be, to take out Adolph.

We are at war. We should use each and every tool at our disposal to seek out and destroy the enemy, if those tools lesen the risk to coalition troops, then so much the better.
In my opinion, a drone is no different than an A-10 or a C-130 laying down seven kinds of Hell on the enemy, 9 times out of 10, the enemy gets killed, sometimes, the innocent are killed, but let us NEVER forget, that we do all we can to minimise civilian casualties, unlike the enemy who deliberately target civilians.
