This is really no video for beginners or chessplayers who follow common sense. It's an example of some of the unbelievable things that can happen on a chessboard. The best chessplayers follow their vision and not common sense.

The "Opening" in chess is the method that you or your opponent uses to start a game-the first moves. Openings often have fancy names like "the King's Gambit", "the Sicilian Defense", the Scandanavian Defense", "the Ruy Lopez", etc. etc.. A lot of these openings are ultra complicated and the ideas, strategy + tactics behind them are often hard to understand. I admit I made the "mistake" of spending too much time learning the opening and neglected the "middle game" and "endgames".
I recommend the system that Susan Polgar discusses above. The "Colle System" is a rather easy and solid opening system in chess that always frustrated me as Black. The "Colle System" is a good away to deal with players who like me spent too much time studying complicated openings that no player is forced to get into.. kronks blc Big Lin iamjumbo

I never knew there were so many openings, are they all winners? Are the openings written in one book or separate books for each name, and written by the Authors of the described openings?

Chess is my favorite indoor game. Other than chess, I'm very passionate about gun shooting (target shooting) and dream about getting into Olympics one day, that's why I have joined firearms safety training classes. I didn't know about Chess opening. I focus more on middle game strategies. Thank you for posting this video. I will improve my play.

Scottish Lassie You'd be completely overwhelmed by the books and studies on chess beginnings or openings. Only a computer can remember all that.

Hi Anna, I have no recollection of having answered your post on chess. The only thing that is familiar to me is the Hi Anna. I don't think that I would be asking the question. are they all winners? Unless that it is a very old post and I have forgotten about it. I certainly didn't type it recently. The situation is all very strange.
Sometimes old posts suddenly appear in order to get more talk on this topic. If there are no new notifications I go to navigation and check for recent posts, but I am being given old posts, which I am answering, not just on this forum, but others as well. Someone is playing around with my phone right now, so I'm logging out now.

Well I got the first white move but then tried something else but I guess it would have failed as it was not the solution, it is a complicated puzzle!

That system is rather quiet and usually no big surprises kronks . Just follow simply ideas and plans.

Yes it is, after a few move I have forgotten where all the pieces are anyway. I am intruding here Kronks as the penny has just dropped with the comment about bent spoons and Pamela Geller. Very clever.!!! The penny has just dropped also in regard to Bush Admirer being a male trapped in a woman's body. I'm certainly slow on the uptake today. That's for sure.!!!

Hi Anna, I have just come across the post that I couldn't recall typing and it does look as if I did type it afterall. My memory is not so hot anymore, but I still don't understand why I am seeing old posts when I'm pressing recent posts
