weather its legitimate to call them terrorists is debatable
the English went into Ireland over 400 yrs ago to take it from them
just like we did in the usa oz ect to eradicate the indigenous folk
we the terrorists there or did we just ask politly if we can take over
can you be a terrorist while fighting in your own country to stop it being taken from you
I don't want to fight with you but history is one of my great passions in life and when you start off with a historical error it doesn't help your cause.
The Normans went into Ireland in 1169 at the invitation of Dermot the High King who was engaged in a civil war.
The Pope then handed Ireland over to Henry II.
The 'English' had nothing to do with all that.
Now let's give you a brief crash course in Irish history. You've obviously swallowed a pamphlet from the Real Crowd with their totally fictitious version of 'history.'
Here are a few FACTS.
1 The so-called 'Scots' who live in (mainly lowland) Scotland originated from IRELAND. They conquered the Picts so it was a case of IRISH imperialism.
2 Those 'Scots' who were sent to (mainly) Ulster in the 1600s were only returning to their ancestral homeland rather than being foreign invaders.
3 My family on my Dad's side comes from Ulster. On BOTH sides of his family tree ALL his ancestors are Irish Celts and NOT English, Welsh (like for instance the Butlers of Ormonde or Austin Griffith), Spanish or Portuguese (like for example Eamon de Valera), English (like for instance Erskine Childers) but IRISH through and through.
4 Gerry Adams' ancestors are Welsh; Martin McGuinness' are Scottish.
Now on to more recent history.
The IRA like to pretend to be freedom fighters (just as the UDA do) but their claim is NO more true than the claim of IS, the Tamil Tigers, ETA, the Shining Path or the Naxalites.
The IRA actually occasionally release political manifestos and basically they more or less admit that they're fascists and despise democracy.
At least the UDA (scum though they are) had the decency to apologise for their atrocities.
The IRA has NEVER apologised.
They are wimps and scumbags who brought nothing but misery to the people of Ireland and Britain.
You may have noticed that Sinn Fein has been sharing power in Northern Ireland for some years now.
Now I prefer democracy - pain though it is - to authoritarian systems any time of the day.
The IRA don't believe in democracy, freedom or human rights.
They are just as much terrorists as IS and Al-Qaida and all the rest of them.
Why do some people have selective indignation?
I condemn ALL terrorists.
By the way, Churchill offered to hand over Northern Ireland to the south in 1940 if the Irish would let Britain use naval bases. (Until 1938 we'd had the right to do that anyway). De Valera not only refused but actively did his best to help Germany.
In 1945 he went and signed the book of condolence for Adolf Hitler.
That's the sort of scum the IRA are.
