Here is a great link. RCA introduced the 45rpm format in March of 1949, and shortly thereafter most other record companies followed their lead. But by the late 90's the 45rpm was for all intents and purposes passe. vinyl is the ONLY way to listen to music. i used to have over two hundred cassette tapes that i had made from records, since i only had a cassette player in the car.
