I'm all for the right to bear arms, even though I live in the UK, but I wish these idiots would keep them somewhere SAFE.
Is it really that hard or expensive to install a gun safe...or even a small strong-box on a high shelf? Jesus, they make me angry, they also give the anti-gun lobby loads of ammunition (no pun intended) for attacks on legitimate gun ownership.

I agree pretty much with Alpha. Mike, like Jumbo, grew up around guns (he's a country boy) and he feels the same as Jumbo does, that citizens should have the right to bear arms. He's an excellent shot (I'm not bad - he taught me) and we've been out on shoots quite regularly.
Even so, as parents of two kids aged 7 and 4 respectively, there's just no way we'd leave guns around where our kids could get to them unsupervised.

Besides the unsecured gun issue......where did he learn that you solve problems with a gun (or with any type of weapon) Seems to me if you lock up the guns you might still have an issue with him picking up a bat, a knife......etc. Parents and any other siblings need to all be checked out!!!!

What a wierd story! I suppose the shrinks will say he's been watching too much violent TV or something! blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2009/01/cops-angry-4-ye.html QUOTE: Police say a 4-year-old boy shot his babysitter Sunday because the 17-year-old stepped on his foot. The Columbus Dispatch reports that the boy "retrieved a shell from a drawer in a back bedroom, grabbed a 20-gauge single-shot shotgun from a closet and loaded the weapon ... returned to the living room, and in front of another 17-year-old boy and other children, shot [Nathan] Beavers." Beavers was treated for wounds from the birdshot, the paper says. The blast also injured another Jackson County, Ohio, teen, according to the Associated Press. The shooter, who we're not identifying because of his age, isn't facing any charges. "He knew it was wrong. He'd seen guns loaded and shot before, but he's never seen the carnage it makes when it hits. He knows it now," his father tells WBNS-TV.

He would have lots to say, i miss him jumbo is right here. you can't get away from me that easily. yes, the punk should not have had access to any gun. kids should be about seven when they are trained to use a gun, and even then, should not be able to handle one without permission and supervision. nonetheless, this is a clearcut case of a worthless individual attempting to murder someone for NO reason. it did NOT have a right to be angry, and should be put away for a long, long time

AH that is all too true. cases such as this are always misused by the anti gun nutjobs. no gun should be within reach of a four year old. it is simple enough to put it where an adult can grab it in the event that it is needed, but out of reach of a child.
