Michael P. DeLozier, 32, was executed by lethal injection for the shooting deaths of Orville Lewis Bullard, 60, and Paul Steven Morgan, 54. A doctor declared DeLozier dead at 6:10 p.m. CDT. According to court documents, DeLozier and two others ambushed Morgan and Bullard at their campsite along the Glover River, firing shots from a .22-caliber rifle and a shotgun, then stealing a pickup truck, a generator and other camping equipment. Prosecutors say DeLozier also set fire to the camp, burning the victims' bodies beyond recognition. DeLozier was the third inmate put to death in Oklahoma this year. No other executions are currently scheduled in the state. DeLozier declined to give any last words immediately before his execution. However, his attorneys released a statement earlier in the day in which DeLozier admitted killing the two men and apologized to the victims' families. "I cannot wait to finish paying this debt I owe so I can apologize to the souls of Mr. Morgan and Mr. Bullard, and ask them to forgive me for my taking their lives," DeLozier wrote. "To the families of my victims all I can say is I'm sorry for the pain I've caused you. I hope my death will bring you some peace." Family members of the victims released a statement thanking prosecutors for their work. "We have waited nearly 14 years for this day," the statement read. "We feel that justice has finally been served." One of DeLozier's co-defendants, Nathaniel Madison, 31, was released from prison in 2000. He had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder and testified against DeLozier. Madison's brother, Glenney Madison, 32, is serving a life sentence for first-degree murder.
