en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleveland_IndiansOf course every American knows the professional baseball team the Cleveland Indians. In the early 1900s a Native American ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Sockalexis )played for this team at a time when some still remembered the "Indians Wars" with bitterness.. Some believe the entire team was renamed the Cleveland Indians to show solidarity with this Native American teammate. There is a feeling among others nowadays that the "Indian name and emblem" are offensive and should be elimined..

Depends how they're done I guess. I could understand being offended by the 'Indian' there because he's made to look a bit of a fool. He could be made less cheesy. I'm surprised that some Uncle Ben's packets haven't been reworked as well.

It depends on the intent. If the association is positive or prideful, I see no problem. However, I can see how people could be offended by seeing a caricature of their people or culture used in a way that treats it as a joke. The real question isn't whether it's offensive, but how we weigh one's liberty to present oneself and one's team or product as they wish against the 'feelings' of others. Remember, this is how the whole 'politically correct' quagmire always begins.
