Oprah was shopping in Switzerland and wanted to look at a $35,000- hand bag! The shop assistant refused saying it was too expensive for her. Oprah felt it was a case of racial discrimination and the Swiss government agreed and made an apology!
Honestly I suspect that the shop assistant would have refused to let most people look at the hand bag up close, unless the person asking truly gave the impression of being wealthy!
Me and virtually everyone here have experienced some kind of rejection at times! Why does Oprah assume her experience of rejection could only be due to her race??

She does seem to be milking it for all its worth. I guess its a culture thing; she could have simply accepted the apology, and moved on instead of going public...world wide.

I suppose if i had her power and someone pissed me off I'd use it to make an idiot of them too. Maybe.
(Part of me is actually happy she was taken for a housemaid though - I mean, she has too much, let's face it.)

the obscene thing here is that anyone is able to walk into a shop and pay that much money for one handbag !
