I had the misfortune to spend some time on an NHS ward a while ago and there was an extremely unpleasant smelling woman next to me who was also incontinent , it was summer and I attempted to open the window but was told it was not allowed, I than began spraying my deodorant around to try and stop me from gagging from the smell next to me and was told that was against the rules too because there were people with breathing difficulties in the vicinity !!!

Every British hospital I've been in has been airless. I have no idea how the staff manage to work in such stuffy conditions.
