Just about every politically correct psychiatrist, psychologist, etc. will, in parrot like fashion, say: "Yes!" to the thread question! I maintain that this is not true! Many normal men and women have "bondage fantasies" in the role of "perpetrators" or "victims", but they would never wish to truly go to that dark place which defines real life rape!
Real rape is an attempt not only to physically attack and injure someone, but is also an attempt to attack someone spiritually, mentally and emotionally and diminish or destroy that person on all levels.
Wikipedia likewise misuses the word rape in discussing bondage fantasies ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_fantasy ).

I believe it's not so much about a "real rape" at all. Just not being responsible for the sexual decisions. I think a lot of people are brought up with some really odd ideas about sex and trust issues.........so some people just imagine that a "rape" would take any of the responsibility out of their hands...........

Oh dear, you do realise this is going to probably lead to a certain amount of maybe dubious discussion, don't you?
All I'll do at this moment is ask a few questions:
How do you define fantasy?
How do you define rape?
How do you define a rape fantasy?
How do you define the dividing line between role plays that are acted out and rape fantasy?
I've got a feeling we might get some unorthodox opinions on this subject from you know who!

I've got a feeling we might get some unorthodox opinions on this subject from you know who! Hi Lin! I certainly never would have posted this thread if that certain pro pedophilia activist was still here with all his verbal fetishes! I think he's probably locked up somewhere and hasn't been active anywhere since! If I have an ulterior motive for posting this thread it's most likely an attempt to marginalize real rapists and help others get over guilt feelings for fantasizing things that they would never act out or want to happen!
Fantasy is among other things anything that an author would write in his novel, but never want to happen in the real world.
I agree pretty much with the criminal law books definition of rape!
Again I don't believe in the existence of "rape fantasies" among normal healthy or even somewhat flawed people. If it's just a fantasy than it's a bondage fantasy! If there's no desire to carry out the act of rape in the real world or if the integrity of the person would prevent this from ever becoming more than a fantasy it doesn't correspond to the judical definition of rape! It's a bondage fantasy and nothing more.
These fantasies are widespread among those, who have never experienced rape.
I dreamed recently that I was being pursued by gangsters and I somehow got a hold of a machine gun and turned around and opened up on 2 of them. Then I just walked away because I didn't want to see them die after being riddled with bullets. Did I commit murder or manslaughter or truly fantasize about killing people and wish to do that in real life? It was something else apparently.

Well, in the first place I HAVE been raped in real life so I know what it's like.
Secondly I DO still have rape fantasies.
I think it's hard to define rape and particularly with the way that American courts in particular have misused the rape laws as an excuse to lock up more and more people.
Maybe I'll post a more detailed comment later but I'm a bit nervous about talking on this subject for all sorts of reasons.

I have had rape fantasies but i know that my fantasy is a long way removed from an actual real rape, I don't fantasize about a "real " rape. so yes i agree that people don't actually fantasize about real rape but an imaginary rape of domination.

I'm looking at Gibby's avatar and thinking she could have her way with me if that's her real torso. I'm easy.

I think a lot of people fantasize about all sorts of crazy things...........
I was really bothered by that recent case where the former cop was prosecuted for having a fantasy with other people about abducting and eating women.....even wrote out plans about specific people including his wife and some of her friends........he participated with others in an online fantasy chat room where they all talked about this.....he made plans, etc.....but never acted on it. Now I can completely understand being freaked out if I had been one of the women discussed....and would probably want some kind of order keeping him away from me.......but where does fantasy and the law cross.
If....I fantasize aout robbing a bank......and I drive by the place.....imagine....and write out how I would do it.......but never do it........should I be convicted of planning it?
This guy had been participating in these chats for 10 years....and during that time....held a job, was a good father and husband..........
This case scares me....because who decides where the line of fantasy and real world crosses? Was it just because this was abhorrent behavior? Who decides what is abhorrent? Is this getting into "thought police"........
Fantasy is part of how our brains think........IMO.........
I think sometimes our lives are just filled with so many decisions....so much responsibility........we fantasize about not having any control.....not being responsible for things....and that can include our sex lives.
