That isn't the talk of a true retributionist, Lin!
He had served his time; he should have been free to begin a new start, not given an extra puncishment we don't mete out to murderers - which he wasnt't.

I know but sometimes I get so mad with people like him that I just can't help my anger showing. But of course I wish we could execute murderers but I do feel that releasing nonces back into the community is a disaster because I honestly don't feel they can ever be reformed. I'm all for reform and rehab with most criminals but I truly don't think that type of offender can be changed.

I can certainly appreciate the sentiment, but I've always tried to be non-violent, in all human interaction, but I stop a little short of being a "pacifist." Made that decision during the Vietnam fiasco. I was drafted, so I didn't have much of any kind of recourse, or at least at that time, when I was only 18-19. "CO" meant Commanding Officer." I had never even heard of a "conscientious objector." Peace, OHD

I can't see anything that suggests he was a paedophile, which is(as you all know) a sexual preference for children; people don't usually use the term unless there have been some serious offences committed . Lin is probably right in saying that "nonces" - I HATE that word - can't be cured, but very few reoffend after leaving prison.
All I know is that Reed had been in prison for two rapes, one on a vulnerable adult, the other on a child - that might have been a teenager, and it might (conceivably) have been willing, though the severity of the sentence suggests not.
But I cannot now see him as anything other than a frail, ill and probably very lonely man who was firstly robbed (the killers made him withdraw his savings) and suffered a brutal death.
It seems that someone just has to shisper (child sex offender) and certain people think it is an excuse to unleash the animal in them.
The three killers are justly punished.

It looks like the pedophile was very cooperative in getting his money from the bank and giving it to his future executioner, who didn't even seem concerned that the pedophile would change his mind. Note the pedophile has his eyes on the man who later killed him and is following him around and not vica versa. I suspect the pedophile thought he was purchasing some kind of gigolo sex from the young sex.

I don't know.......he was convicted of two violent rapes.......those are not usually the only ones....just the ones he got caught for........these predators leave lives destroyed in their wake.......and many of their victims go on to victimize others.......a vicious chain of violence.........so I don't feel bad that he's not around.......but I can't say.....unless it was my child or loved one.....that I would go to that extreme. Don't know what it in these people's past.......but I do believe it is just to prosecute them for their crime.
Which again.....leave it's on trail of destruction in their own families.

Anna, yes, I see what you mean; he was quite willing to get the money and maybe was expecting to buy sex with it: who knows?
He convicted of rape, yes; he had a string of convictions - I'm not sure he was a paedophile, but labelling him as suchmakes him an "open house" target. There may or may not be other crimes he got away with.
But in my mind he is a very good example of why Sarah's Law should never be introduced here.
