Pope Francis is probably too old to be a reformer. His views are rather traditional. I truly hope he'll allow priests to marry, but unless a big wave of Catholic support moves him to allow this it probably won't happen.

Well, I like the fact he praised Francis of Assisi who represented a simpler and purer form of Christianity.
Whether the Mafia in the Curia will allow change is another matter.

Let's hope he will prove to be a dynamic pope

At 76 years old that's not very likely.
The last thing the papal mafia wants is a dynamic pope.
Blimey, he might actually CHANGE things!

Have you ever visited the Vatican? I have.
My impressions were very negative. First of all, I had to go to the end of a very very very long line early in the morning. Then we were herded through the exhibits like cattle, elbow to elbow. I was always in the middle of a crowd of people being crushed together. That put me in a bad mood so maybe my impressions were a bit biased by that.
There are many beautiful old exhibits in the Vatican. The Sistine Chapel ceiling is amazing but it's just one of the many incredible exhibits.
My negative impression was that they collected valuable loot worldwide and brought it to the Vatican.

Yeah, well, the Argentine imperialist fascists are trying to persuade him to take their side but of course if he really WAS a Christian he;d do what;s right rather than what;s racially accetable to his prejudices

True Jesus washed the feet of his apostles, but not those of people imprisoned for crimes. I don't know where this pope gets the idea to also kiss the feet he washes.

I think he is an improvement over the last one. Will just have to wait and see though.

I think Benedict was the worst one in donkey's years and Francis has certainly said a few things that suggest he might be an improvement But whether he's got the energy or the power to change anything fundamentally we'll have to wait and see.
