Bin Laden 'aide' goes on trial in New York The man described as a spokesman for Osama Bin Laden has pleaded not guilty in New York to charges he helped plot the 9/11 attacks on the US. Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, 47, was turned over to US officials in Jordan within the last week after being deported from Turkey, authorities have said. A Kuwaiti preacher, Mr Abu Ghaith is Bin Laden's son-in-law. On Friday, he pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to kill US nationals, in a federal courtroom in lower Manhattan about half a mile (0.8km) from the site of the 11 September 2001 attack on the World Trade Center - where thousands of people died that he helped kill. [Oh yea, we're going to give him a "fair trial". You know this is the point where I have to work to not just say "he should be burned and made to jump off a 100+ story building", but of course I dont believe in "an eye for an eye", that just doubles the wrong done doesnt it ] HIS CRIME:
Prosecutor John Cronan told the court that Mr Abu Ghaith had given an "extensive post-arrest statement" totalling 22 pages. A trial is set to begin on 8 April and is expected to last about three weeks. "Sulaiman Abu Ghaith held a key position in al-Qaeda, comparable to the consigliere in a mob family or propaganda minister in a totalitarian regime," said FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge George Venizelos. He used his position to threaten the United States and incite its enemies. READ MORE OF THE ARTICLE...The Republicans of course are whining because they didnt get to do it (their way). They complain that we shouldnt try the guy in civilian court; that he should be sent to Guantanamo, where he'd be declared guilty before the "trial" starts...well...I ,and 40% of Americans, think my own government was behind 9-11 (although those who dont think that get upset when it's said because they dont want to imagine we might actually be BAD ourselves - but come on, it's the American Government, what would really be the surprise???). SO..is this guy just part of a group of people we stood by and ALLOWED to attack us so we could have an excuse to go to war, to enact the pre-emptive warring doctrine ? Is he a patsy? Or did Arabs really do this, because they hate us, and they do hate us? Well, I dont expect a civilian trial for this guy will bring hidden truths to light, but it sure has a better chance of us being in on what's said than if they take him to Guantanamo. Frankly I'M OFFENDED that the Bush Administration surrounded the white house with barricades and hid their chosen puppet figure for 6 months while they trained him. That our government became THAT SECRETIVE had to be a bad thing.
So sure let's have a public trial.
See? And you thought i wanted to just scorch him and push him off a building. Nope. I'm not convinced he did anything (other than opportunistically rant a bit). He should have a trial.
And if I had my way, Bush, Rumfeld, Wolfowitz, Rice, and a few others would face trials as well for their fake war against Iraq this event allowed them to enact.
Did the Bush warmongers just get lucky, and a huge glaring attack happened just at the right time? Or did they have something to do with it.
What do you think?

This guy knows a lot of Al Queda secrets and names of members. He should be in Guantanamo being water boarded at the moment. He doesn't belong in New York in a court of law. He's an enemy, not a criminal.
