Thanks for the Crowded House beth. It's a great song and good video. I don't know what's going to happen with videos on the net. Go back into MWL and lots have been pulled. I understand that it's a business but the way to sell songs these days is through the net and to get them out you need people to post them and pass them along. I think if record cos keep pulling videos, they're gonna run themselves out of business. If it was me, as an artist, I'd make damn sure I kept control of that side of things.
I'll go with Icehouse again and this is really 80's. I enjoy the comments on YT about the old technology...Good bass to it.

It appears to be simply stupidity and greed - probably in reverse order. I don't have time to go looking right now, but be back later. Here's the wiki for Icehouse. I got curious. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icehouse_(band)

Thanks beth. I'll post more Icehouse down the track. I think Davies was a terrific song writer.
FYC - I haven't heard them for a while. This is my fave song of theirs
I think it's from the 80's (if not, early 90's). The lead singer has a terrific voice - very unique. I don't know what you'd call this song - a blend of soul, reggae, rock?

Yes, I like that one, and I have to say, I like their treatment of Suspicious Minds. A nice update from the Elvis classic version.

Oh yeah, Glenn Shorrock and the Little River Band. I haven't heard that one in a long time. Most of those guys had been in successful Aussie bands before they joined together. Very good songwriters.
I'll go with Icehouse again. This was a huge song for them in '83 I think.

It's a bit scary looking at George in those shorts. I don't think he and the other guy (can't remember his name) even talk to each other any more. Now, where was I reading about George the other day? He was singing at some gig and his voice was apparently terrific.
Anyway, this is a cover version of Stevie Wright's Evie from '73 I think. I'm posting this because I think it's better than the original. Great group working together.

beth that was a great performance. Mullets. H'm. I went looking for Paul Y and I couldn't find him. I know he's there somewhere. I'll come across him sometime.
This guy was my hero . Every new album I'd be desperate for it to be released so I could hear his new tracks. I saw him in concert in his prime, when he was just on the verge of superstardom. Cold Spring Harbor I think is the 1st album he ever released but it's early 70's I think. This is just such a great piano player song and he does a great job. There is no vid but the audio is terrific.

It IS strange there aren't more Paul Young videos to choose from - not like he's an obscure artist. Have to admit, Everytime You Go Away, (a cover of Daryl Hall's song) was his magnum opus, though. I like Billy Joel but not everything he's done. The Stranger ('77) is his best album, IMO. Here are my favorite 2 tracks - Vienna Waits and The Stranger. I think I've posted The Stranger live video before, but it's a great performance, so . . . enjoy. www.youtube.com/watch#playnext=1&playnext_from=TL&videos=tPbQWLdVMYI&v=pUzDaRN3C3w

beth thanks for all 3. I enjoyed every one. The sax player on NY state of Mind was pretty good wasn't he? Damn, when he held that note at the start of his solo I thought he'd fall over!
I don't think there's a BJ song I could honestly say I don't enjoy.
This is a favourite from long ago. And it's live from '77. It's all good.

No worries beth. Hope you feel better soon.I'll go on with some BJ music. Here's one that I like but it's never played. Running on Ice.
Now that I think about it, the comments made that he had been influenced by The Police and was trying his own take on their music rings really true. You can hear that jumpy quality to it that The Police brought to Don't Stand So Close to Me and Roxanne.

I like that one, too. Thanks for posting the actual video. It's so closely tied with The Breakfast Club that anytime I hear it I think about the cast of the movie instead of Simple Minds.

Yeah that song is linked to The Breakfast Club, isn't it?
Here's a group who flamed in the 80's, early 90's then disappeared.
EMI doesn't control all the vids.

The Clash. A terrific group from the 80's. You can't embed their original videos -all owned by some music group. This one they performed on the stage on the river. Anyway, it's audio only but it's all good.

That IS a good one, Gabe. I've never heard it before. This one is a cross-over, but it's been fairly difficult to find a decent clip of this band in their prime so I want to share it here, as well. After the mid '80s, the voice couldn't support the song, but here, it's grand. www.youtube.com/watch#!v=0j82al7MjtQ&feature=related

Thanks beth. You're right. I never considered the voice going but you are on the money. That song was, I won't say atypical for them, but definitely not what you expected from Foreigner. You and I had a discussion last year about the sax player on one of their songs. I think that's right.
Anyway, this is one of their monsters.
Any song that starts with a simple piano part gets my attention.
