Published November 02, 2012 Associated Press WESTLAKE, Ohio – A woman accused of breaking into a home west of Cleveland, cleaning it and leaving a bill for $75 has pleaded guilty to attempted burglary. The (Elyria) Chronicle-Telegram (http://bit.ly/VG9X0B) says Susan Warren pleaded guilty this week to attempted burglary and will be sentenced later. The 53-year-old Warren told authorities that she was driving by the house and "wanted something to do." She broke in, washed some coffee cups, took out the trash, vacuumed and dusted inside the house. Then she left a bill written on a napkin that included her phone number. Warren says that she owns a cleaning business and sometimes enters homes, cleans them and leaves a bill. She has another burglary case pending, but circumstances weren't clear.

Personally I'm amazed she hasn't been shot.
Also....for vacuuming, dusting and washing some dishes I think her services are overpriced!!

Personally I'm amazed she hasn't been shot. I think I might it difficult to shoot someone while they are doing vacuuming. That aside, I wonder if there is some sort of mental health issue? To steal things is an understandable motive for breaking in, but cleaning and to then leave your phone number so you can be easily traced? Bizarre behaviour.

Burglary is usually the offence of breaking into a dwelling for the purpose of committing a crime. At least, that is what it is in England.
Is vacuuming a crime? I'm feeling rather smug about that, because I must be much more law abiding than most people.

I'm not really saying that she should be shot for vacuuming......just the fact that she is breaking into the house.......it may look empty but that doesn't mean it is.........you could surprise someone that was asleep, coming out of the shower....whatever........as strange as the people are that break into places.....there are some strange people in the houses too....
You don't have to steal anything.....just the act of getting into the house is breaking and entering......and that is a crime in itself.

Yes, if she had to smash a window or damage a lock to get in, that would be a crime - not burglary though!
But if the house was unlocked and she just walked in - no crime at that stage. English law, at least.

There's nothing wrong with cleaning someone's house, but, breaking into a home of strangers without their permission is against the law. The Cleaning Fairy is now facing one year probation and she needs to do a community service for 20 hours.
