Cherish your visions; cherish your ideals; cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts, for out of them will grow all delightful conditions, all heavenly environment. - James Allen

People are like stained glass windows: they sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light within. - Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

Murder should just be called 'unauthorized killing', since the government does lots of it and the only reason you can't is they outlawed individuals doing it for themselves, so that they would have all the power.
Think of it. How wrong can killing be when we
give medals for it?
make excuses for needing to do it?
We kill people who kill people to show that individual killing is "wrong".
So, apparently wrong doesn't mean wrong. It just means unauthorized.
So I'm going to call murder "unauthorized killing" from now on...
That is the reason why I don't agree with the death penalty.

That is the reason why I don't agree with the death penalty. I have a great deal of sympathy for that point of view both in terms of the death penalty and in a broader context. On the other hand 56 - 57 later this month - years on earth have taught me that pacifism, however admirable as an ideal, is of no use when confronted with the bullies of the world. The only way of dealing with them is to fight back and if necessary kill them. Now I am not opposed to the death penalty on moral grounds per se although that is partly the case. Primarily I believe that capital punishment has a place as a last resort but that it should be used sparingly and that it is not up to the state to determine that but society as a whole. As an anarchist I reject all laws and all criminal sanctions; that does not mean that I believe 'everything is permissible' but rather that I look upon the world as a nexus of interdependent rights which need to be mutually respected. As the right to life is the most primary of all our human rights that has to be the first principle on which a moral society is founded.

Hi Toetapping, I have been a grateful person since I was a child, and I have found that this is one of the necessities that is upheld by ECKANKAR the religion of Light and Sound, being the two aspects of the Holy Spirit (ECK) Having a grateful heart is a product of love which gives you the ability to be appreciative. I have given thanks to God for the love that I have been given since I was born into this world. And fortunately for me, I have been well cared for.

As the right to life is the most primary of all our human rights that has to be the first principle on which a moral society is founded. Hi Mike Marshall, it would seem that I have really lived a pretty sheltered life. When I see all the turmoil that is happening around the world, I seem to have missed out in experiencing any kind of the horrible things in life. Perhaps this is why I can't envisage anyone ever wanting to commit atrocities and probably why I will never be able to understand how anyone can kill. To me life is a miracle and therefore very precious. Yet people are being killed as if their lives weren't important. There has to be an underlying reason why some people find it so easy to kill and others don't. Why do you suppose this is?

no idea, not something I would do, maybe it removes the board off your proboards list? Me neither. I think it's best not to do or say anything you're going to be ashamed of later on. Probably why I always think and then re-think what I'm typing Plain stupidity, perhaps?
