"MythBusters" host Adam Savage dressed as a cabin caretaker for the Halloween episode.

With Halloween just a few days away, it's time for the creepy and the crawly to emerge. Indeed, some believe that this time of the year is when the spirits of the dearly departed may return to the land of the living. Could that be the cause of unexplained chills or hairs standing on the back of your neck when you're in what may be a haunted home? Or is there something else going on?
"MythBusters" to the rescue! The show, which is airing its first ever Halloween special on Sunday, explores whether something as simple as an inaudible sound -- to the human ear, that is -- can convince unsuspecting folks of paranormal activities.
In an exclusive clip that Discovery is sharing with The Clicker, "MythBusters" hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman set out to learn just that. The pair sets up four identical cabins, with one containing human-made, non-spooky speakers that emit the subaudible frequency that may -- or may not -- lead to the belief that the said structure is haunted.
And to get the unsuspecting subjects into the mood, Adam dresses up as a spooky groundskeeper. Check it out:
The "Fright Night" episode of "MythBusters" will also investigate the myth -- perpetrated by movies -- that moving dead bodies is easy. Another area of exploration will be whether there really is such a thing as "the smell of fear."
The Halloween episode of "MythBusters" airs on Sunday at 8 p.m. on Discovery.

I'll have to check that out. ..The TV tells me we're going to be in the middle of a tropical storm on Halloween, so it will be ..cancelled? *gasp* Well we had an ice storm last year (ridiculous to have happen in October, but it trashed so many trees, left wires hanging, put all the lights out. Anyway. That's what they did, they just simply cancelled Halloween! It never happened. Weird huh? When we were kids if the grownups made a call like that, we'd have gone out "tricking" with a vengeance. (you know, vandalism). Was I in a bad crowd? I don't know. No, as "bad crowds" go, we'd have been considered pretty lame, but.. we waxed windows, egged houses and cars, threw toilet paper rolls over rooves, threw marbles through windows, broke streetlights, stole the stop sign again (yes "the" stop sign....smaaall town life, mm). One time we stole every doormat in town during the night but that wasn't about Halloween, that was about creative mischief. (Oh it was great! The whole town ended up at the post office, going "where's our mats?" "Yours too??!" What happened to our mats?!!" LOL We screwed with their minds is what we did. Then we hatched an idea to paint the bridge (ok, yes, "the" bridge) all fluorescent orange - all of it, the road, handrails, support structure - whole bridge. (Aren't you glad you didn't grow up in a small town? Look at how bored we were!). But we were creative at least, and I actually enjoyed that aspect of it. I used to come up with ideas. I'd laugh my head off, and talk people into doing them. That was me. (shh..dont tell anyone, there are farmers still looking for us corn bandits ;D
