www.ktvu.com/news/19196835/detail.html QUOTE: Bay Area Toddler Abducted At Knifepoint; Amber Alert Issued Posted: 7:11 am PDT April 16, 2009 SAN LEANDRO -- Authorities issued a statewide Amber Alert early Thursday after an estranged father in Alameda County abducted a 22-month-old toddler from her mother at knifepoint, according to the sheriff's office. The alert was issued shortly before 4 a.m. after 26-year-old Luis Meza Valdiva reportedly took his daughter Yosseline Carolina Meza and her mother from a residence at 15015 E. 14th St. in unincorporated San Leandro, and told the mother at knifepoint she would never see the child again, Alameda County sheriff's spokesman J.D. Nelson said. “He’s the father of the child,” Nelson told KTVU. “The two parties were at a Burger King (in San Leandro). They left amiably. They were going to sign some paperwork. Somewhere along the way there was an argument.” “The suspect pulled knife on the woman -- threatened her, threatened the child," he added. "They ended up driving toward Turlock where she was able to convince him she needed to use the bathroom. He was okay with that but she would have leave the child and her purse. She confronted a trucker, who called police. He heard that transaction going down and he fled.” Valdiva is described as a Hispanic man with brown hair and brown eyes, around 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He was last seen driving a white 1992 four-door Toyota Camry in the city of Turlock in Stanislaus County, Nelson said. The Camry's license plate number is 5GBD911. The suspect was last seen driving on state Highway 99 in central California and may be headed toward Mexico, Nelson said. Anyone who sees the suspect vehicle or Valdiva is asked to call 911 to report any information.
