One more Mike Oldfield because, well, it's just amazing. On New Years Eve, 1999, there were several wonderful concerts going on all over the world to commerate the new millennium. One of these was in Berlin - Oldfield's Art In Heaven concert, featuring 7 songs from his Millennium Bell album. This clip is the first 2 numbers - "Sunlight Shining Through Clouds" and "The Doge's Palace". If you're a MO fan, you'll love it; if not, it might pull you in that direction. Performers: Mike Oldfield ------ Guitars & Keyboards Robyn Smith -------- MD, Conductor Adrian Thomas ------ MD, Keyboards & Guitars Claire Nicolson ---- Keyboards & Guitars Carrie Melbourne --- Bass & Chapman Stick Fergus Garrand ----- Drums & Percussion Jody Linscott ------ Percussion Miriam Stockley ---- Vocalist Pepsi Demacque ----- Vocalist Nicola Emanuelle --- Vocalist David Serame ------- Vocalist Symphony Orchestra State Academic Capella, St. Petersburg The Gunka State Choir, St. Petersburg. I'm going to windbag just a bit but this song is so much home to me as I grew up around the ore carriers on Lake Michigan and Lake Superior [gitcheegumee].
This song makes me long for the innocence I had in the seventies that has long since been replaced by cynicism and disgust for the state of mankind that we have brought upon ourselves with greed.
These ore carriers are a wonder to behold while traversing the Soo Locks at Sault Saint Marie, Michigan on the Canadian border; read about them on the internet.
I had considered a career on the ore ships until I saw the lifeboat from the Edmund Fitzgerald and that changed my mind as I didn't want the power of nature to exert it's force over me.

I just found this Native American song today; I love the music and play often simply because it soothes the soul and mends a broken heart that needs to be stong for someone else.

Yes it does. I wanted to post "Europa and the Pirate Twins" (version 1) by Thomas Dolby, but I couldn't due to this rights stupidity. I will upload all of his videos to YT myself when his new best of CD/DVD is released...Thomas Dolby for the masses! AH

Yeah, most people only think of that and "Hyperactive" when they think of Dolby...I bought "Retrospectacle" (one of those best of CD's) several years ago, just to flesh out my CD collection really...the rest, as they say, was history, I have all of his stuff now. There is so much more to him than "catchy pop choons"...why not treat yourself, you know you deserve it. www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/31298/Retrospectacle-Greatest-Hits/Product.htmlAH
