If one company has its way, the next big thing in America will be vending machines that make and dispense pizzas. Let's Pizza, invented by Italian Claudio Torghel and based out of the Netherlands, is setting up a headquarters in Atlanta, Ga., soon, PizzaMarketplace.com reports. A YouTube video shows the vending machine mixing water and flour, squirting out sauce from a tube, and baking the final product in about 2.5 minutes. The short-skirt and high-heel clad woman in the video says the machine uses "fresh ingredients" and the pizza has "total hygiene" because nobody ever has to touch it. In an interview with PizzaMarketplace.com, CEO of A1 Concepts, which owns Let's Pizza, explains the process. "The machine contains a specially developed bag of flour and a bag of mineral water. Every time you order a pizza, the machine will start making the dough, then shape it into a crust, and top it with organic tomato sauce," Ronald Rammers said. "Next, one of the toppings is placed on top and the pizza is ready for the oven." According to Rammers, Americans will soon find pizza vending machines "at malls, airports, hospitals, restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, universities, gas stations, bus stations" and more. A 27 cm pie will set you back about $5.95. for story and video : www.torontosun.com/2012/06/13/pizza-vending-machines-headed-to-america____________________________________________________________________________ A good idea, eh? The finished product is pretty thin, and for a cutter, it's extra. I don't think I'll become a customer.

Hmm. It's a bit crass, isn't it. As a student I used to use those drink vending machines that give you coffee, tea and hot chocolate. You'd press a button and get something liquidy in an inadequate plastic cup. I refuse to believe that it was chocolate, tea or coffee. We'd all sit around complaining about it but being young and stupid we were unable to think of another way to get a drink. I expect these pizza machines will have a big market. In Holland you can buy lots of food from vending machines though so I expect this seems like a gourmet product. Apparently "meatballs" are very popular, with people getting addicted to them....although no one seems sure what meat they are... I find that disconcerting. I think they must be the little krokets (croquettes) people are talking about on the Virtual Tourist page below. www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/Netherlands/Provincie_Noord_Holland/Amsterdam-463377/Restaurants-Amsterdam-FEBO_Dutch_Fast_Food_chain-BR-1.html

I can see the pizza machines doing very well at airports, railway stations, etc. Anywhere where the public does not have much choice...
