www.foxnews.com/us/2012/03/13/former-gay-porn-actor-reportedly-cleared-to-obtain-florida-teaching-certificate/ QUOTE: Former gay porn actor reportedly cleared to obtain Florida teaching certificate
Thirty-six-year-old Shawn Loftis spent six years in the gay porn industry as an actor, director and owner of his own company, World of Men, but decided he was done in 2010. He thought he had left it in the past, until he got his first substitute teaching job at Nautilus Middle School in Miami Beach. The school’s principal went on a “moral crusade” against him, Loftis said, and he was fired for violating the Miami-Dade School Board's code of ethics and for gross immorality. That led to the Florida Department of Education’s decision in November to deny Loftis from getting a teaching certificate for five years. “Porn is not moral turpitude,” he said. Last Friday, the state’s Education Practices Commission agreed when Loftis, who has a master’s degree in public administration, went before the members to fight to get his job back. Some voiced their support. “They're aren't that many teachers with master’s degrees, there aren’t that many teachers that can bring the experiences that he’s had in his life – forget the six years of his porn past,” Loftis said. The reversal will allow Loftis to pursue a teaching certificate. He has already passed the exam, so now all he needs is a teaching job. “I just hope that is a position comes available at Miami Beach High, that is where I really want to be,” he said. However, Miami-Dade Public Schools spokesman John Schuster told NBC 6 "the certificate does not guarantee employment." Loftis said he has a message for parents. “If the kids ever brought it into my class, I would talk to them about how it was not one of my better decisions, and that they have to keep on a right track, that they have to go to college, they have to live within their means,” he said.

He did not do anything illegal. I could see requiring teachers to have some type of morality clause.......for there conduct now.....not the past.

I go to school at nms it has good teachers and good staff but One thing I don't like is the security and most students The reason I don't like the security is because they Are all friends with all the misbehaved kids and most of The kids are bullies one time in nms a kid brought Jet fuel to burn down ... Read more the school and all they did was Send him to juvy for ten days and he came back to the school a week Later also there is alot of drug using in the school Posted by a other on 08/22/11 Honestly this school would great place to attend if it weren't for the students Posted by a other on 05/22/11 Honestly, the enviornment in this school is okay. The bathrooms are usually dirty, the halls are over-crowded, the security treats us like dirt, and there aren't many good influences. it's an okay school, but there are only a select few teachers that i would recommend. some have been there so long they ... Read more act like they own the kids, and some have been there for so little they let the kids do whatever they want. this school did not prepare me for high school at all except for the few teachers who actually somewhat cared about us and our grades. Mr. Everett Evansky, Mr. William Lollis. Great teachers who showed me what high school was about to be like. Posted by a student on 09/10/09 I haven't attended Nautilus Middle School for very long but so far it's O.K. The thing that bothers me, however, is the lack of disipline with the students. They push and shove each other in the halls, and are almost constantly cursing. Some will form little groups in the halls, and block the other. This causes many students to be late for class. Also, many are loud and unruly and have no respect for school property or other kids property. They put their garbage into other students bookbags, and write and draw things in text books that would get them suspended at my old school. I think the school staff should watch the students more carefully, and try to have some ACTUAL control over them. Posted by a student on 08/25/08 This is one of my favorite schools that I have ever volunteered at. I am gald to have my kid enrolled in this school. Posted by a parent on 02/12/09 Sounds like they could do with a real character of a teacher in there!

I have to agree with you Sadie. I could see if he was making the students watch porn in class or whatever that would constitute as morally wrong, but to educate students on subjects and maintain professionalism...I can't see the big deal...
