www.foxnews.com/us/2012/03/13/autistic-girl-fatally-shot-brother-7-arkansas-police-say/ QUOTE: Autistic girl, 9, fatally shot brother, 7, Arkansas police say
March 13, 2012 | Associated Press A 9-year-old autistic girl fatally shot her 7-year-old brother at the family's Arkansas apartment while their parents were signing paperwork at a leasing office, police said Tuesday. The girl initially told authorities two men entered their Little Rock apartment on Monday and shot her brother, but police didn't find any signs of forced entry and nothing in the apartment was missing, according to a Little Rock police report. The children's father told officers that his daughter has high-functioning autism. He said she "often told stories, and he did not believe that the apartment had been entered by anyone," police wrote in the report. Little Rock Police Sgt. Cassandra Davis said later conversations with the girl led investigators to believe she was responsible for the shooting. Davis declined to discuss details of the conversations or whether the girl had been tested for residue left behind when a gun is fired. It was not immediately clear whether the girl could face charges and a prosecutor didn't immediately respond to a phone call seeking comment. Authorities are not releasing the girl's name because she is a juvenile. The Associated Press is not naming the boy or his parents so as not to identify the girl. The girl's father told police he and his wife left the apartment briefly to sign some paperwork at the leasing office. He said he locked the front door when he left and that it was locked when he returned. He told police his daughter said her brother was hurt once he and his wife were back. When police officers arrived at the home, first responders were performing CPR on the boy, who appeared to have been shot in the chest. The boy was rushed to a local hospital and later pronounced dead. The children's father told police he had firearms in a case in the back bedroom. Authorities found blood marks in that room and closet, along with a large pool in the closet near a silver case. A man who answered the phone at a number listed for the father Tuesday said he wasn't ready to talk about what happened.

Wow.......tragic. If people want to have guns they have got to act responsibly and lock them up. There are no excuses.

If guns had to be kept under lock and key, wouldn't the pro-gun lobby complain that they wouldn't be able to reach them when they needed them?

If guns had to be kept under lock and key, wouldn't the pro-gun lobby complain that they wouldn't be able to reach them when they needed them? Actually any "responsible" gun owner agrees that they should be locked up. Here the Sheriff's Office and the Police Dept give out free gun locks in order to encourage it.

^ Possible they will say if 7 years old boy had a gun he will be alive why would anyone say that? this has NO similarity to a school shooter or something like that, or a robbery or other crime

There are just too many idiots out there with guns and with kids.

TACOMA, Wash. -- A 3-year-old boy accidentally killed himself with a gun as another child sat next to him in a car, police in Tacoma reported Wednesday, the third recent shooting of a child in Washington state. The car was parked at a gas station just after midnight Wednesday when the boy's mom got out to buy some items and her boyfriend went to fuel the car, leaving his gun inside, NBC affiliate KING5 TV reported. Police believe the boy then got out of a car seat, grabbed the gun and shot himself. The man's daughter was also in the car, though she was not hurt. The family, who have not been identified by police, is believed to be from the Tacoma area and the boyfriend does have a concealed weapons permit, KING5 reported. Tacoma police spokesman Naveed Benjamin said the man had put his pistol under a seat. Detectives called the shooting a tragic accident, Benjamin said. usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/03/14/10684036-boy-3-kills-self-with-gun-inside-car

Do they not have an age of criminal responsibility in that state? In the UK I believe it is 10. Sad story regardless.
