Anyone see the US men's final? Absolutely stunning. Up there with the best I've seen in watching over 50 years of 'slam' tennis. Rafa once seemed invincible. This year it is Novak who has taken the game to a new level. Makes up (a bit) for the derisory fine on Williams after her spoilt brat display on Sunday - clearly some players seem to be treated as bigger than the sport

Yes it seems that these young guys just keep getting better and better. Federer looked unbeatable until Nadal emerged. Now Novak has Nadal's number. It was a great match.
Note that I watched this match on a 40 inch HDTV. I watched the Wimbledon final in a theater (live 3D broadcast). Both were good but the theater was much more like being there live. It is well worth the expense if you have an opportunity to see a match like this live in a theater.

I can imagine. But for atmosphere there is nothing like seeing it live. I used to go to Wimbledon every year through the late 50s and 60s queuing overnight for Centre or Number 1 court, but only sporadically since. One highlight was seeing Rod Laver in one of his grand slam years - 1969 I think. Would have been fascinating to see how 'the Rocket' would have compared to today's greats with modern day equipment. There are still many who consider him the greatest of all time, but I think it's impossible to compare eras like that. But he was a genius with a racket and so diminutive compared to today's giants.

@ firedancer - I've never had the pleasure of attending one of the major tournaments live. Having good seats on the centre court at Wimbledon would have to be a treat.
I have seen some great matches live though. In the 1970's, when Ilie Nastase was ranked #1, I got to see him play a final match against Ken Rosewall at the Lakeway Tennis Center near Austin, Texas. That was a special treat because it's a small stadium and we had front row seats right on the net. Nastase was amazing with some of his near impossible retrievals and returns far behind the baseline.
Another year we were vacationing in Palm Springs and got to see Jimmy Connors in a finals match against a then unknown newcomer that we'd never heard of at the time. His name was Ivan Lendl. That was a great battle of a champion on the way out against a new champion on the way in.
We've been to some other live matches but those were the only two tournament finals.
I would say the 3D movie theater live projection is about half way between watching live and watching on a high def large screen television.
