Because it isn't 'risk' we're talking about, exactly. It's actually women making decisions. And the the chance of being aborted, if you're a foetus, are not so much greater if you're African American than if you belong to some other racial group. And in any case, the figures might be more 'imnpressive' (your word) if the advertiser stuck to the highest scoring group, but then the others might pay no attention at all. Jean - we cannot have women going around making decisions about their own bodies, whatever next!

Because it isn't 'risk' we're talking about, exactly. It's actually women making decisions. Decisions that place an unborn at risk. Obviously you make the value-judgment that it is right that women should have this choice, whereas obviously others make different ones, but whose value-judgment is correct isn't the issue is it? It is about whether a party is being racist.I'd be surprised if they didn't oppose all abortions of the same type, regardless of ethnicity. But for emotive and rhetoric purposes, maybe they feel that a specific targeting was warranted here because the figure of 60% is particularly high. I'll bet they still produce leaflets and whatnot about all abortions. I'm not sure what you mean by 'highest scoring group'?
