Jumbo - Are you saying that you consider yourself aligned and in agreement with the likes of Pelosi, Olbermann, Maddow, Boxer, Schumer, Jerry Brown, Al Gore, etc. I certainly hope not. I had you figured for being much more intelligent than that. you know better than that. except for jerry, the rest all oppose the death penalty, and don't comprehend the irrefutable FACT that the only cause of crime is the inherent worthlessness of the individual. al is pretty much a charlatan, telling people to do things that he don't do, ie conservation. obviously, on things such as health care, ALL of them are totally correct, so of course i agree with them.

I really don't get too enthusiastic or negative about any of these politicans. I think many liberals seem to be offended that Sarah Palin, a woman and mother, just doesn't go the liberal way.
I listen to talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh and Ed Schulz on AFN radio here and I rejoice that Americans have such freedom of speech! In Germany and much of Europe such talk show hosts, especially Rush, would be censored or end up being charged with the anti-free speech laws here! News in Germany is just sober facts. Commentaries and public debates are too hot to handle for most European news stations.

as usual, that's a non issue to begin with. it has nothing to do with the real problem. i certainly don't like the healthcare reform that the republicans, who continue to publicly state that insurance company profits are more important than human life, foisted on us. the ONLY intelligent health care reform is to establish a government program. insurance companies could be allowed to compete if they wished. the part of the bill requiring that eighty percent of premium dollars be spent on providing care is a start, but certainly nowhere near close enough. ninety-five percent is a more reasonable figure. the whole point is that the government could provide healthcare for, say, around two hundred bucks a month for a family of four. the insurance companies could either do the same, or cease to exist. no problem either way

Jumbo - Fox News is considerably more fair and balanced than the likes of MSNBC, PBS, etc. You should watch Fox and compare sometime. If you were to pay attention you would notice that Fox typically invites guests from both sides of the issue. MSNBC, on the other hand, is more like an echo chamber where a host from the looney left simply shovels his or her drivel into the camera and microphone. You won't likely see any opposing opinions allowed on those programs.
The difference is that Fox is in the News and Editorials business. MSNBC is in the Propaganda Dissemination business.

I respectfully disagree Jumbo, big Guy! All US newsmedia seems to have their commentators, including Fox! You might notice that a lot of my threads were started by a Foxnews report, which was simply ignored by the leftist PC news media. For instance Fox was the only major news network that reported on attacks against free speech such as expelling counselor students, who didn't feel right about giving homosexuality the stamp of "equality"! biglinmarshall.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ethics&action=display&thread=1685&page=1
Or about the Christian, who was harassed legally for wishing to have a Christian roommate! biglinmarshall.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ethics&action=display&thread=1912
MSNBC, CNN, NPR, etc. were mostly silent on topics such as this. True Foxnews was silent about the atheist, who was offended by the US military's "Spiritual Fitness Test". No one contributed to that thread though so it seems like Foxnews articles do a better job of making this forum liven up! biglinmarshall.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=religion&action=display&thread=2176

I find Foxnews articles rather fair too! I seldom open a thread with the opinion of a commentator!
What a news network doesn't report on or downplays tells much more about that news network or their agenda, if any, then what they do report on.

just another example of her stupidity. you cannot trademark a common name which is in the public domain. that's even more stupid than thinking you can copyright "i love you" as a song title. there's absolutely no legitimate basis for her even trying

as always, faux news is zero facts and 110% lunatic fringe propaganda. there's nothing rational about that story faux news is doing good to have two million viewers at any one time. they don't even get close to the legitimate newscasts

OK Jumbo. Here is a test case for you. Check out this article and tell me precisely how and why you consider it to be zero facts and 110% lunatic fringe propaganda.

Looks like just the facts to me. It's Obama who was weaving and bobbing and dodging the facts in this instance.

It's Obama who was weaving and bobbing and dodging the facts in this instance. unfortunately, firefox says it don't know how to open the link. nonetheless, the title says it all. the FACT is that obama has NOT raised taxes. i realize that you labor under the delusion that having the dumbya tax cuts for the rich expire would have been raising taxes, but the simple fact is that it was nothing of the kind. nonetheless, the typical republican zeal to take from the poor to give to the rich prevailed anyway

Jumbo there was an errant z in front of the link. Here it is again www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/02/08/group-disputes-obamas-assertion-didnt-raise-taxes/Obama has raised taxes again and again. Republicans have no desire to take from the poor and give to the rich. Nothing could be further from the truth. The do have a desire to keep what they've earned. They dislike the Democrats confiscating their hard earned money and giving it to voting blocks who will keep them in power. Democrat politicians are a sorry self serving lot.

They dislike the Democrats confiscating their hard earned money and giving it to voting blocks who will keep them in power. Democrat politicians are a sorry self serving lot. What is this group that is claiming that Obama raised taxes? Are they your local loons? "Just 16 days into his presidency, Obama signed into law a 156 percent increase in the federal excise tax on tobacco -- a hike of 62 cents per pack," Americans for Tax Reform said in a press release Monday, arguing that Obama's approval of this tax hike was a violation on his campaign pledge not to raise taxes on the middle class.So... a tobacco duty hike is an attack on the middle classes, is it? White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Tuesday that he had not seen ATR's claims but "I would note that I think the Congressional Budget Office released figures yesterday that show that for the third consecutive year the American people are paying less in taxes than they did during the previous administration."
The CBO on Monday said that according to projections, income tax payments this year will be nearly 13 percent lower than they were in 2008, the last full year of the Bush presidency, and corporate taxes will be lower by a third. The White House also has defended the tobacco tax hike previously, saying it didn't violate Obama's pledge because it didn't apply to income, payroll or investment taxes. Supporters have also noted the money gained from the tobacco tax is intended to finance a major expansion of health insurance for children.
The White House has addressed charges that the health care overhaul raises taxes, saying the law includes the largest health "tax cut" in history for middle class families. The White House has cited the Congressional Budget Office estimate that Americans buying the same coverage they have today in the individual market will see premiums fall by 14 to 20 percent. Is the CBO lying?

"loons" is a charitable description of them. they are on the fringe of the lunatic fringe. it's true that obama signed the cigarette tax hike, which he obviously should not have. of course, the bill was passed by congress before he took office. it was an unconscionable bill which congress had no right passing, and obama had no right signing, but he did. all rational people know that, if there was to be a hike in the excise tax on anything, it should have been directed at luxury items purchased by the rich. there would be no need for that even if it were done properly and we had a flat 33 1/3% corporate income tax, with NO loopholes, on all corporate income. of course, since the primary tenet of the republican party is always to give to the rich, doing the right thing will never happen as long as republicans control congress
