www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-10723764 Could not have happened to a more deserving bloke! BNP leader Nick Griffin has been denied entry to a Buckingham Palace garden party over claims he "overtly" used his invitation for political purposes. A spokesman said his behaviour had "increased the security threat and the potential discomfort" to other guests. But Mr Griffin, who had been invited to the event along with all the UK's Euro MPs, told BBC News the ban was an "absolute scandal". The British National Party (BNP) is a far-right political party formed as a splinter group from the National Front by John Tyndall in 1982. So was the Palace right to ban Griffin for using his invite for political purposes?

no the palace wasnt right in banning him..although he broke the unspoken rules by making his invite political andrew brons of course went with out any to do the palce should have ignored his coments and he wouldnt have recieved all the publicity..and he and his ilk couldnt have been made out to be the victims of the establishedment he is like it or not an elected representative....and when you consider some of the people invited to the palce very very small fry in the nasty stakes... the gov as usual is hyporcritical in who it finds aceptable.....and also rember that nearly one million people cast their votes for the BNP.....not a small number by any stretch
perhaps mr cameron and other suporters of the uaf should look at that organisation when it comes to facist tendencies

Griffin was probably secretly delighted at being banned!. It handed him more publicity on a plate, and it allowed him to portray himself as the injured innocent. They should have left the invitation alive, and simply ignored the nasty little tosser!

Of course Griffin will try to turn this to his advantage, but has any of the mainstream media portrayed him as a victim? The only commens I've seen support the Palace.
In any event, this quote (from yesterday's Telegraph) seems to suggest that the Palace wanted to send out a message to anyone else tempted to use their famous summer party for political ends:
A Palace spokesman said: “Nick Griffin MEP will be denied entry to today's Garden Party at Buckingham Palace due to the fact he has overtly used his personal invitation for Party political purposes through the media
“This in turn has increased the security threat and the potential discomfort to the many other guests also attending.
“Mr Griffin's personal invitation was issued to him as an elected Member of the European Parliament. The decision to deny him entry is not intended to show any disrespect to the democratic process by which the invitation was issued.
“However, we would apply the same rules to anyone who tried to blatantly politicise their attendance in this way.”
